No sure anyone can help with this one:

If I get a click though from my site to .com but the customer is from another country, does the cookie still sit there and do I get commission if they purchase?

    Thanks

you only get commission from the Amazon Country you signed up too.

So on my sites mine is Amazon.com - USA Amazon - I only get paid for purchases from USA Site

You can sign up to multiple countires if you like and redirect people via plugin etc - but its very inefficient because not all products are available
in each country and some product numbers are different - so it can distract the buyers unless its done well.

    Danny is right.

    Lets see an example
If the customer is from UK, your site redirects to usa amazon, he purchases some stuff from there and get it sent to UK, lets say London, you get comission.

    BUT

If you are browsing usa amazon from uk or even from any european country you get a notification bar on amazon (not always, and not sure what triggers it), to click through your local / closer amazon site.

It is a high chance they will click through and just search for the item there. This way you wont get commission.

You'll get commission for the sales generated only from the country where ID is associated with.

When Danny is talking about Amazon, you've got to agree with him. He's among the most experienced here on the world most intelligent IMers forum. And frankly, he's just right here. Plugins like Amazon link localizer was done for this reason. The producers of such products aint fools
