So is this Illegal
Hey guys,
So I make around $5-10 a day with YouTube content locking ebooks, and although I appreciate that that is around $150-$300 a month, the method i`m using takes a fair amount of resources.
I know a lot of people content lock TV shows and movies, I just want to ask one question.
If I content lock a video that is hosted on someone elses site, so say I had a gateway that lead to sidereel, is that illegal?
I`m not hosting, but i`m basically linking to it?
I know this is a noob question, but please just help =)

Re: So is this Illegal
This is a weird question...
I do not believe it is illegal, but the website owner might not like it.

Re: So is this Illegal
No but its a damn fine way to make money if you can blast those vids up. Youtube + Video Content + Content Locker = $$$$ if you can scale it.
Hit that green 'Give Rep' or yellow 'Thanks' button when you read something you like.

This is not a link to copy of copyright material.
this is a content locker that dumps you on the REAL site.
Criminally I do not see a problem....
he might sue you on a civil court...
but the worse you would get is a order to stop doing it... since there is no copyright infringement.
The UK student case is different... he had links to copyright material.
He had links to PIRATED material.... there is no pirated material in this case.

I think it's not illegal.

Re: So is this Illegal
Basically,
Code:
http://www.sidereel.com
is a website where you can gain access to TV shows, THEY link DIRECTLY to pirated material hosted on videobb and other websites.
If I link to SIDE REEL, am I still breaching copyright laws?
In essence i`m just promoting side reel, but they ARE linking direct to pirate TV shows (not sure how they get away with it)
I`m probably just worrying too much, but hey, I don`t want to get arrested =)

Re: So is this Illegal
look man, probably it's not illegal, but if u do it so much that some MPAA gets angry you will probably be guilty. If u get to that level you will already have money to escape to mexico

Exactly, you have nothing to worry about as there are thousands of movie sites out there... However, as time goes on I recommend you to work on other long term projects if you are serious about making money online.

They operate from SF, CA(o_O) and dont seem to be in any copyright trouble so I guess you could link to them without any worries.

Re: So is this Illegal
I love threads that begin with "Is this Illegal?". It's funny how people can't discern between what's illegal and what's unethical. I have sites that linked to my images directly so that I eat the bandwidth. I found out, watermarked the very same images and took advantage of the free advertising.
