Ive only been using Youtube adsense for a week and having good reults so far.

I just checked my stats (see pic attached) and in stream video ads get alot more clicks/views than traditional yt txt ads. But the cpc is super low.

Does anyone get high cpc on video ads? or is it just me with low figures.

Also do you find video ads make you more revenue over long term?

I'm currently doing .08 cpc for video ads. Cpc for text have hit .43 but videos will generate more ctr and revenue. Last few days my video ads made 100.00+ but text ads only about 40+. Keep in mind there are other types also in your adsense. I had a thread about this but I figured it out and if you look at you cpm it will basically tell you the answer as cpm averages them by thousand views.

I'd say Inetpub is pretty right on with his post. You're going to see a higher CTR with video ads because they're typically better produced and, therefore, more compelling for a user to click on. The thing that (kinda) pisses me off about using them is that when a viewer clicks on them, they don't see my cool video! ha! I've learned to only use them on videos that I don't care about the viewer watching in their entirety; videos where I'm not pushing a site I've got, for example. But, hey...money is money so whatever.

The thing that I find interesting is, as you mentioned, the YT pre-roll ads have a better CTR but the text ads pay better. It seems odd because, especially with the text ads, we have no control over the content of those ads. For example, a pre-roll video ad is likely to be directly related to the content of your video. So, if you post a video about the Oscar nominations, there may be an ad promoting "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close".

The text ads that a viewer sees are based on their search history. So, if I had been previously searching Google for, say, anti-anxiety medications (and I hadn't cleared my cookies), I'm likely to see an ad for Anxietin or something. That ad will likely have nothing to do with the content of my video. My video could still be about the Oscar nominations. But BAM...Anxiety meds.

Seems odd to me that we'd be paid better for something not particularly targeted for the advertiser. I dunno. Sorry. I got off on a rant there.

CPA offers and promoting your own stuff is always going to make you more money and will always have a lower change of losing your income (account/adsense banned).
