I'm sure a lot of folks have heard about this, but I wanted to attempt a post which would add value to the community.
I am doing SEO on YouTube videos for local offline brick & mortar clients.
Step 1 > Identify a single keyword phrase you would like to target - if you have an offline client, find out which keyword phrase gets them the most traffic.
Step 2 > Head over to Fiverr and get a gig for a 45 sec to 90 sec video promoting their business
Step 3 > Create a channel on YT which begins with a local modifyer + keyword phrase (for example: austinplumbing or bostondoggrooming) - try to get an exact match. However, if that is not available, use one of the following naming options for the suffix of the channel name - use the area code, or hq, or x or something similar - do NOT start the channel name with those - (for example: austinplumbing512 or bostondogroominghq)
Step 4 > Upload the video
Step 5 > Create a heading to the video which is no longer than 60 characters and contains the keyword phrase for the business - NOT the business name (unless that is the keyword phrase you are going for). Do NOT include the suffix from above, just use the keyword phrase.
Step 6 > Add a description with 3% - 5% use of the keyword phrase - Also begin the Description with a link to the client's main site.
Step 7 > Add a SINGLE tag - NOT a ton of tags, just add the keyword phrase you are going after (for example: "austin plumbing" or "boston dog grooming") - don't forget to include a multiple keyword phrase in quotes otherwise, the keywords will be listed individually - Remember, this method is to laser target a single keyword phrase (remember that) - if you want to target other phrases, make other videos.
Step 8 > Do your SEO work - remember, there is nothing new under the sun when it comes to SEO, right? But, in case you are curious about what I do, here it is - please no haters - This is just what I do - it may not be the absolute best, but it seems to be working:
SEO Stuff:
Step 1 > Create an article - Post it to eZine - in the article box, put 1 link to the video you are promoting and 1 to the offline client's main site.
Step 1a > About gaining views - there are a bunch of ways to do this, I use a combination of Fiverr gigs and u2bviews. If you have specific questions, please feel free to post them here or PM me and when I get my messages above 15 I will reply *grins* (thanks for reminding me about this wcp31).
Step 2a > If the client has Twitter & Facebook - post a link to the YT vid and ask the client's followers to check out their new video - but do it in a way that gets them involved - ask their opinion, or create a contest, give away 10 lottery tickets, or something like that...
Step 2b > If the client does not have Twitter & FB, create those accounts - these do NOT have to be the client's main Twitter and FB account, and I think it is helpful to create accounts with the keyword phrase in them (but, that is just my opinion) - then see 2a - since these will not have any followers, you can get some gigs on Fiverr to remedy this, or what I also do is get on Twiends and then work it like crazy for about 3 weeks to grow followers, etc.
Step 3 > After eZine approves the article, I wait about 3 days then bring it back, spin it and publish to at least 5 other article sites - In these articles I put 1 link to the YT video and 1 pointing to the next article site.
Now that I have the basis for content and my first "layer" of links setup - I just start backlinking like crazy - not just to the video - and not just to the clients site - I try to split links that I set up in this way (this is not hard & fast, just an approximation):
20% to the video
20% to eZine article
20% to Twitter
20% to FB
10% to the other articles and to the main site
I really hope this helps somebody - I am finding that I'm able to rank to page 1 in about 2 to 6 weeks - and that there is some staying power with this - Again, your mileage may vary.
I'm sure there are others who can get this done a lot faster than I, but, because my clients are offline brick & mortar businesses it is important that what we do is long lasting.
I am definitely be interested in hearing what the rest of you think - Thanks for reading!
