I was trying YouTube + CPA back in March 2011.

One of my videos I uploaded in March was getting around 3-5 views a day. I forgot about it and went onto something else.

Having not checked the video in 9 months, I decided one day in December to check how the video was doing. Interestingly all the way to December the video was still making 3-5 hits per day. In December the views rocketed!!! It started with around 30/40 a day then to consistently over 100 in the last couple of weeks or so. I have attached the YT analytics graph. The video has just over 2,000 views of which most coming in December.

I checked my CPA account and the video is converting at 20%

Can anyone explain this?

I have not tried to promote the video. The only thing that has changed is that there were 13 spam comments in December from different accounts promoting the same website (not from me)...this surely couldn't have caused the surge in views?

You got lucky and your video went "semi-viral," someone probably shared it or liked it which caused more people to share and like it. Just upload some more and you'll get more similar scenarios, and hope the views don't stop for this one.

Just wanted to make it little clearer - the spam comments are promoting a different site to my CPA offer.

I thought this would be the case but who would share/like a 2 minute watermark video?? Do you think the spam links in my comments section have contributed?

comments probably helped your video to get ranked better for your key

Going to post similar videos tonight lets see how far I can take this!!

probably they improve your rakings for a few keywords you have in the title and description. Check where traffic is coming from, if you are converting at 20% probably that traffic would be coming from the search engine

Strange things happens in youtube. I do bulk uploading , the same clip on many differents accounts with similiar keywords and I do not do any SEO on videos. Some of them can get 1.000 views in a month and others reach 10.000 before the get deleted because of ´commercial content´

Usually analytics show how you get your traffic.. If it's mobile or referred by a video, from video search, etc etc

Just checked 98% is coming "YouTube suggested video" I am guessing that is the right hand bar of related videos?

What do you use for bulk uploading? I want to scale my method...doing this manually is long!!

Then your video is suggested on a popular video that is in some way related to the video you uploaded or something that would also interest the target audience for that video.

You should be able to then click that and see in detail what videos you are receiving the suggested video views from.

Don't complain.... enjoy it and scale it up with more videos!
