Building Backlinks on Videos

I was looking at my competition, and I see its ranking on page 1 with a video with only 12 backlinks. I was wondering whats the best way to outrank it, I've been naming my videos with the keyword in the title and description, and should I make post on his backlinks with a link to my video?

Seo optimized title/description/tags and a lot of views.

In most cases link to your video = more views, if posted in the right place. So go for it if you can.

Backlinks/throw your site on some sites you think might get more traffic/seo the youtube tags etc and if possible gets some likes/comments..
