Is there a way to embed the html link in the Youtube video? I know how to place it into a description, I know how to place it inside the channel using branding options, but I wonder if there's a way to incorporate it in video itself, so that a person can click on it and go to my website?

actually i seen a couple videos on youtube with that done. It actually worked as I did click on the youtube video and it took me to a website. Never seen before though. I dont how to do it. But it would be interesting.

I dont think thats possible as of right now- but you can use annotations on youtube- this a live link onyour video but it does not let you leave the domain youtube.com so you can link to other videos or a channel etc..

Also, is embedding the HTML link in the description as straightforward as it sounds, or does YT limit that, meaning you have to work around it?

You can put a link in the description quite easily.
To get better exposure, put it first.

Ex. http:/example.com/mysalessite is the best site to buy my proven system.

You just type it in... Youtube (for now) just converts the fully formed address into an active link.

Follow that with tags that are relevant, and maybe a couple copied from some high viewed vids too.

It's pretty straightforward. Just don't forget to add http to make it a live link

Seems impossible to do now. But in 20 years, it will be a piece of cake.

YouTube does not allow links to outside websites.
The "annotations" can take you from a video to another video or channel within YouTube.
But YouTube does not want traffic leaks.

Outside of YouTube a live link in a video is possible in Flash.
Very easy to do in Camtasia.
I've tried that a dozen different ways submitting to YouTube and they defeat it every time.

I agree,,, it would be a moneymaker.

well if youtube let you link to a channel in a video what about a profile? and profiles can have a background pic link from a outside website , i think I have some testing to do have a idea.
