Not another noob question.

Ok, maybe another noob question. Although I am not begging for methods so I hope I do not get flamed for it! Here goes...

When do you give up on a utoob campaign?

I have a landing page leading to a content locker. In the past couple days/week I have racked up about 2000 (real) views on videos trying to lure people to the landing page. Out of those 2000 views, I received 6 clicks from the content locker, but no sales.

Is 2000 views too low to see results? Or does my tactic suck and its time to switch to something else?

Instead of making another thread for another question I have, I figure I would reply to this thread and get a free bump out of it.

DEVELOPER KEYS

Will YT ban them if a program using a certain key consistently uploads videos with accounts that subsequently get banned?

I threw together a quick and dirty python script for automatically uploading videos over a number of accounts, but I am not sure if my developer key is at risk doing this. If it is I may consider looping through a list of developer keys.

You might as well just do the bot using http , is a lot better than just using yt keys.

Sorry, my programming knowledge is limited. When you say http, do you mean through oAuth? Doesn't oAuth require an app to be registered and receive an ID too?

This upload script is the first thing I have ever tried to program in python. I would be open to suggestions of a better language to be using. Either way I would be learning from scratch.

If you need an easier language to learn that you can do it faster on then you can try Autoitv3 many will argue thats its one of the easiest language to learn aside from macros or ubot. Its free and if you need help with some youtube functions hit me up i already got some made for my bot.

I think I am going to stick with Python for now. It has been fulfilling my needs so far. We will see how long that lasts when I dive into video manipulation though...

With HTTP, you can use the cURL library for Python, or httplib.

Example of a POST request:

So rather than use yt's API, I just use python to mimic a browser? I assume this method is not documented and I would have to figure out the parameters and what not on my own?

I am not sure what caused it, but 15 of my 30 accounts received a verification prompt on sign-in. I uploaded videos to the first 15 throughout the day yesterday, then the last 15 last night (300 videos total). Worst part is: I do not have any more accounts right now to test with.

YT API has it's limitations. I will not recommend using it if you're planning on some blackhat video marketing stuff. YT Developer keys are being tracked.

Mimicking a browser through http requests involves a lot of work but is definitely worth it. This is a bit advanced though. You have to trap and take a look at actual http requests being used by a browser and mimic those and execute any javascripts needed. Take a look at wireshark for starters.

You can probably try automating your stuff with iMacros too. You'll be able to use the (very few) iMacros directives or code js if you need to manipulate the DOM or other complex elements on the page. I don't think it can really get much easier than that. HTH

Despite losing 17 accounts (I miscounted before), I am not ready to give up on the Python API. It is just so easy to work with. I am going to pick up some more accounts and try and make my script less predictable (although I am still limited to 1 IP).
