Thanks for taking the time to put this together Nick. Even though it is pretty dated, there are some techniques that can fuel new ideas. Look forward to your next Thieves Guide!
Just curious... Are you sending it to your web page? I would just watermark the vid with a url that redirects to your cam sponsor affil link. namecheap offers domain names for cheap, url redirects, and whois guard to mask your info.
My vid is watermarked with my url...but I have a page up will an FPA on it that links to my sponsor. Just curious as to why I need to mask my info?....who is going to be upset with me?....the video site I posted on my sponsor or both, and why? The video that I used was an original of mine.
Another good tip on the watermarking. Don't watermark in the very bottom corners or edges. Bring your watermark up a little bit, but don't intrude heavily into the actual video.
If you watermark too close to the edges other people can still rip your video and just cut out where the watermark is located.
If you watermark away from the edges it makes the next person trying to rip the video cut the video higher and possibly making for a sh!tty video.
Just my .02 folks... ;]
here's my .02 to add to the watermark tip...let your watermark run for an extra 5 seconds at the end of your video either on a blank background or on the last frame of your video. If you haven't noticed the video sites like to pop up things like other videos or advertising the very second your clip stops. This 5 seconds gives the surfer a chance to focus on the url you are trying to send them to before they get distracted.
I knew those tips already, but thanks for talking about how it was against the rules to promoting parked domains using videos. I was unaware, guess I should read all the T&
