Not only does Yahoo charge more per click but their PPC traffic is absolute crap. Doesn't convert nearly as well as Google and they charge a hell of a lot more to be in the top few positions. I can run hundreds of clicks though Yahoo and Bing and be lucky if i can convert 2 sales in a day.

Have you tested yahoo yourself. 90% of my traffic come from yahoo and my ROI is sick! (meaning great!). If you say that yahoo is crap and its your own experience...then that's 1 thing, but if you've not tried it and tested it...then I would try to steer people away from it.

Conversions are not so bad but traffic is 10 times less than google. I have websites which rank in google and yahoo in top 3 results and I got almost no traffic from yahoo. If you want good traffic and lots of it google is definitely the best.

Yep, sure tested it. I wonder how i can make 70k+ profit from Google PPC p/y and not make a cent from Yahoo PPC traffic. Same product slightly different keywords but generally the same. I wonder what the missing link is because i cant profit shit from them.

I think everyone is different, again, my yahoo keywords dont work on google....so i shifted the majority of my traffic to yahoo because I'm converting at like 200 to 300 percent ROI. I guess it just depends on the products and services you are providing.

Wow 200%+ better? Thats amazing. I dont get what the problem is then.

It all depends on the niche (doesn't everything?)

Yahoo's demographic these days seems to be a bit older and less savvy than Google so if your niche appeals to that demographic, you can probably do well (as long as the traffic is there, mind you).

In a new website that I have, I am only ranking at yahoo (at the moment) and the conversion is almost 100%. (not kidding) but receive very very little traffic from that site but I know that if I got 10 visits it can convert the 10 visits. (not ppc)

Yahoo converts WAY better than Google for me, only problem is there isnt enough traffic.

I can spend $20 on Yahoo and make $100
Or I can Spend $500 on Google and make $900
ROI on Yahoo is much better, they just don't have the volume.

i am thinking trying yahoo but had high cost per click is it normal when u start u first campaign so i shut it down but i am ready to try again after a year

One thing to consider besides the niche you are trying to monetize is to use keyword tools that present you with the search volume for SPECIFIC KEYWORDS IN EACH SEARCH ENGINE.

Although the numbers are "never" accurate, you still can have a better idea of return from those search engines (ROI) based on your organic or paid advertise.

Maybe, most of the "bad" ROI, was based on targeting a good keyword but using the "wrong" search engine to invest your time and your money.

BING converts well for me when the topic is SEO. Many office are "MSN-oriented" so the preferable SE to use is Bing. I am sure the most niches related to "Office Supplies" may have a good return as well.

Most of my traffic is from Yahoo. I don't know what your talking about, but yahoo was far better than google or bing! Plus it is cheaper. My ROI is also awesome along with my CTR!

I think google handles 80% of all search traffic on the web.

I'd have to agree with some of the other posters, I've never tried yahoo ppc, but I would think the niche would matter

Bing traffic has been excellent for entry-level technology, mainstream health, and travel-related conversions. There appears to be a significant price break, however - Bing users hate free. I don't get it - they will buy something for 9.99, but I've A/B tested this three times with a travel-related product - they will NOT give up their email address for the same item if its free. $9.99 for an informational product had a conversion average of 3%; free converted at less than 1%. This was a random A/B test for a client (not my product).

I've also found organic search results coming from Bing have a better conversion rate.

Now, Yahoo PPC is the exact opposite. Yahoo seems to convert better for non-conventional medical (read quack cures) and memberships. These people are cheap. Same keywords, same product - $9.99 conversion was under 1%, free to join mailing list - 12%! Unfortunately I don't have access to the mailing list value - but there it is. Hope it helps.

What im talking about is what i already said. Read it again. For me Yahoo sucks but for others based on niche it seems to work. In my case i cant profit from Yahoo no matter what landing page i throw at the users, no matter if i direct link or change my prices up or down the damn traffic doesnt convert for shit. As the poster above stated, THESE CLICKERS ARE CHEAP, which i have to agree with. Too many click happy users who dont buy, at least on my niche.

I would not agree that the cpc on yahoo is more than adwords.

In yahoo cpc depends on CTR%.

If your CTR is insanely low (which means the ads suck) then the CPC will be very high.

I have a few campaigns running on YSM, ADCENTER, ADWORDS.. YSM campaigns are performing the best in terms of conversions and cpc!!

I don't know how YSM work for list building or selling digital products, but I know I tested 2 things before, they are adsense and some beauty products from clickbank.

And adsense got great result(to great so Google low down my cpc and finally ban my account), but I got zero sales from 500+ YSM clicks.

Mine was the same.

Whenever I ran an adwords campaign I would always get high returns when I would run these same type of things on Yahoo/Bing I wouldn't even get a single conversion.

It always confused the hell outta me because everyone always says start with bing/yahoo first than move over to Adwords but it seems like it was the opposite for me.

I started with Big/Yahoo and worked my way towards adwords/google. But my specific niche didnt really appeal to big and yahoo. Or maybe i was doing something wrong.

its normal for yahoo to charge more because their results are 90% more relevant than googles. thats the point. while google is heavily spammed yahoo and bing arent.

My CTR is about 10% on both Bing and Yahoo. So not sure what you are talking about. All my traffic comes from Bing and Yahoo, because adwords does not accept ads for the type of product I sell. Plus CPC is much lower and you can place much higher.

Accroding to me ,traffic you get from gogole is best , you get only a part of traffic from yahoo from what you get for google.

I'm rarely get traffic from Yahoo. But it's no surprise.
Although my ranking is better at Yahoo then Google.

I did try yahoo once without much success but google is great,but i honestly believe it depends on how well you target your keywords,your ad and your niche,they all come into place.

I've spent millions on Google with accounts associated with very large firms with Google and the ROI with them has been on the decline since 2008. Quite a lot of my clients now advertise on Bing/Yahoo, and a few of my very large clients exclusively advertise on Bing/Yahoo. Something changed...

No company should be compared with Google ...

Google is simply the best ...
