How are my ranks affected when Spammers use my domain as a link?
I've noticed a weird trend in my back links over the past month, I've randomly gotten about 300 new back links, but I'm not associated with them at all.
A link to one of my webpages is showing up in all sorts of spammy blog pages. The content is definitely spun, usually about 200 words per post/page. On each page there is about 5-6 links to some spam site, but then they are randomly throwing in a link to my website.
What's the benefit to people throwing in a link to my website among their complete spam shet? Does it make them look more "legit"?
Can this possibly affect my SERPs? I'm a bit worried as I've worked rather hard to build a solid amount of legit links over the past year to this site and it now ranks very well.
Am I correct to assume there is no real way to combat this shet?

Could be somebody carrying out NEGATIVE SEO on your site. Inform Google and try to get the links removed.

It could also be someone building links to his tier 1-2-3 links.. have you accepted blog comments on this page?

I've noticed the same thing lately. Even on a brand new site I had about 5 spammy links exactly like the poster described.

I generally don't accept comments. All comments have to be manually approved - and I tend to not bother looking at them. I barely get any and they aren't key to the production of the site.
