Default keyword research for niche sites?

Ok so before i buy a domain i need to do some research on keywords, but im having trouble deciding what keywords to go for i dont mean what niche i mean type. For example should i go for keywords like buy maxi dresses, maxi dresses on sale, maxi dresses for cheap even though my site wont have any maxi dresses on sale. This will just have information about maxi dresses and not what the visitor wants?or i could choose colours like white maxi dresses, black maxi dresses?or brands like max and cleo dresses, would this work?i have made websites like the above and the worked before, do they still work or are they a waste of time?or am i better of just working on keywords like where to find maxi dresses, how to maike maxi dresses etc keywords?

    Nickjett,

Keyword research can be a bit tricky. I would start by coming up with a list of keywords that you have to rank for as well as some that are longtail keywords. If you don’t know what you have to rank for, choose ones that have a moderate amount of competition and high search volume. I would use some kind of third party software or formula to determine this.

After you have that list, remember that pages rank best when each one is optimized for a single keyword and its variants. That is, don’t try to cram a bunch of unrelated keywords on the same page. Once you have identified which keywords will go on which pages, format it as such:

Keyword | Brand Name

Meta = Keyword that you are using on the page should be in the meta description

Keyword phrase

Copy that is about the keyword

Variant keyword phrase

Copy about the keyword variant

    And so on.

You can also find some more ideas here,

    Hope that helps,

what i have learned up to now, you may even sell sht to people (i apologize for this rudeness). believe me there will be a lot to buy it as long as you know how to sell.

So, go for something you like/hate/feel bad or good. but never give up. mostly people surrender when they are about to win...

    Edge,

You bring up a great point about, "go for something you like/hate/feel bad or good."

When someone decides to start a business around "keywords" there is a danger in those keywords not being something that they are really interested in. Unless you make money from the site(s) you create quickly, you better be pretty motivated about the site, because, no matter who you are... it will take longer than you expect for it to succeed. I'm not saying it won't succeed, but as entrepreneurs, we tend to create a false reality that things will always work out as we expect.

On the other side, as an entrepenuer, we tend to be motivated by money, so if you can find a system that makes money quickly, you don't have to worry about whatever keyword you pick, as long as it is a profitable one.

Well, those are my ramblings for the morning

    Shawn
