Default SEO strategy for e-commerce clients?

I've searched around but I couldn't find my answer so I decided to make this thread because I know I will receive my answer here

So as in the title, My friend has a company that is making e-commerce site (zencart template) and he has a lot of clients that want SEO monthly packages for their websites. And he asked me if I can handle his clients. He said that he can give me some coders if I need some helps. At the beginning, I just care one client , if after one or two month, sales increase, he will find more clients for me.

The problem is I just know basic knowledge about SEO, and I really want to learn more.
But I don't really know what I need right now to do SEO for the those clients.

So I need some advice where to start (some general steps to start)
Which tools should I buy? I have around $1k to invest
and what is the good (I know there is no the best strategy in SEO) strategy SEO in white hat and long term? (just general steps so I can google for more details )

With the greatest respect; you really need to re-consider...

You say you only know 'basic' SEO, and you want to learn more, but you're going to 'act' as a professional SEO for paying E-Commerce site customers; which are some of the hardest sites to rank well !?!

You're more than likely to just damage their rankings at this stage.

    Thanks for your reply.

At first, my friend will give me his site (his company website) to test. It's in a low competition niche with around 5 -> 10 keywords with < 20k searches and most of his clients in low competition niche too so that's why it doesn't make me scare to join this project.

And I can't ignore this opportunity because as you know the hardest part is finding the clients, so I cannot let it go away.

I have 3 months to work with his site then we will decide to do more business or not.

That's why I need your advice. I know all pro SEO are here and you can give me some advice that I need

All I need is just a strategy for long term SEO, something like in the first month with a 20k searches keyword what I have to do with it
example (1 article with the keyword on money site, 20 unique articles in web 2.0's link to article on money site then blast xxx backlinks for web 2.0's ect..)

Ranking eComm is expensive. Read all you can on basic SEO and there are a few guys here like Zapdos where you should literally read every single post he ever wrote... good luck.

I don't see how it is more so than any other type of SEO. Harder maybe, depending on niche... but price isn't something that scales a ton unless you're buying links usually.

If i were you, i will use my 1k wisely and not publicly announce your capital.

SEO is indepth and not something that can be learnt in one day.

I advise you get a mentor or become a refer for a start and use that funds to hire a professional tutor.

I'm saying this because you might invest your capital and lose it.

My god man! Remember these are not earn and burn sites we are talking about. These are companies/customers that are looking for LONG term rankings.

There is quite a bit to consider and just buying tools will not cut it IMO, almost everything gets spanked (yes even white hat) and turning a newbie loose with SB or SENuke will be a nightmare and disaster for him and you. He will lose reputation with the client, you will lose a friend after you have tanked enough sites and the customer will have lost money on the site he just paid your friend to create that now cannot rank for months or years!

If you want to invest I say invest in VA's and writers. Have the VA's do MANUAL web 2.0 creation with 4-6 articels in each, one ro 2 links max on each web 2.0 not per article per site! Images/videos/complete profiles/different themes.

Then sign up for some communities yourself and put out some decent content. Manula directory submission to moderated directories, manual article submission to moderated article directories, press releases, guest posts, manual bookmarks from REAL profiles.

The bad news is these will take a lot of time to setup, the good news is that once set up you will have them forever and you can keep adding to them.

You are going to need GREAT content for the clients site too, not $5 articles but good information about the products with internal links pointing to the product sales page.

I am afraid your SEO career will be over before you start if you are just looking to cheap tools!

You can use your tools to do some light tier 2 and tier 3 building but I would stay far away from them for tier 1 to a money site.

Do you even have any idea about meta tags and keyword density, keyword diversification etc...?

I am worried about the poor potential clients that will likely lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars very soon.

I REALLY REALLY appreciate your reply. As I said at first my friend will give me his site to test, because he has many local customer right now, so somehow he don't care about traffic from SEO too much, so he give me his site to test keywords.

And I have read some articles from SweTech
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackha...esnt-bank.html
and some ebooks about building authority as well such as: ASAC_Xfactor, Fatcal but I never took any action before.

That's all I know right now. So I need some advice to point me the right way..

And I am ready to lose hundred to thousand for this project, somehow I could learn some experience from the money that I lost , of course I always hope I will not lose money, no one want to lose their money, right?

If you don't mind I have some questions:
    - Where could I find a good VA's and writer and how much they will cost me per month?
    - When you say "Have the VA's do MANUAL web 2.0 creation with 4-6 articles in each, one or 2 links max on each web 2.0 not per article per site!" You mean some articles don't have backlink, just one or 2 on web 2.0 have link to the money site? Sorry because English is not my primary language
    - If I don't hire a writer then where is the good place to find buy GREAT content for money and web 2.0 as well?
    - And the last thing, could I have your Skype, I really really some advice, of course time is money, so even it's not free, I can afford some money for it, not much, but something .

If you are looking for tools and tricks, you will be burned.

Good, long-term SEO is about providing valuable services, products and content to customers.

No! I am not looking for any tricks or tools. I just want to some guides or strategies of long-term SEO.

I am trying to figure out the valuable services, products and contents as you mentioned.

I really appreciate if you could talk some more about that

You're right ThopHayt, the phrases are equally competitive and require the same SEO work. The major difference, and the point I was making, is that a typical eComm site will have multiple verticals of phrases. So a good Normal campaign for a client will have 5-20 KWs an eComm site will have 5-20 KWs x 15 product lines (or 1,000s of product lines) = expensive to SEO eComm. Right now, the bigger your site is, with massive anchor txt diversity and substantial product page count, the better.

I have created a stand alone thread about the BASICS of e-comm seo... Take a look at it, it might help. I dont want your money, I want you to succeed and if some day you are a big wig SEO E-comm guy making millions I want a job! LOL Consider this me "paying it forward"!

1k? I think your budget is short, so use it wisely.

I recommend to hire some writers who can rewrite product description (almost all of the ecom sites that I see uses same and exact words from the manufacturer).

And you can also outsource good writers on a very minimal price.

You can also write fake reviews inside your site. and then more fake reviews and products description promoting your sites using web 2.0..

Do not try to set up a web 2.0 and then forget it, my tip is to update it weekly.
