Default 3 pages dropped out of my rankings

    Greetings,
attached is a graph from google webmaster tools which shows the impressions and clicks from one of my websites. At the 05.10.12 to the 06.10.12. there was a HUGE drop in rankings to almost zero..
I waited now to see whether the rankings will recover by themselves but now I am just starting to rank for some long tails... my main keywords which were targeted by 3 pages (including the mainpage) completely disappeared.

3-4 weeks before the 05.10 I haven't touched my site at all. The last thing I did was a senuke social slam with an article that was 400+ words long.. Every sentence spun 7 times.. Sentences spun with each other, too.. according to thebestspinner 100% uniqueness.. Do u think that might be the problem? Has anyone else had problems with this template?

From 200 search queries I was used to rank, are now 90 left. My site is an EMD for one of my main keywords.

Has google started an important update at the 05.10.12? Has somebody else experienced such a massive drop? My pagerank is actually down to PR2. Before octobre it was a PR3 domain with pr2 on every subpage.
    ______________________________________

How can I recover these pages?
I have actually 700 backlinks from a pr6 domain... I've done a comment there and it seems like they had some kind of latest comment widget installed or something like that. Thats why it appeared. Could that be part of the problem or is google smart enough to detect such a widget?

Should I maybe call for a manual reconsideration request? Has somebody had some positive experiences with that?
My website has high quality unique content which is useful for the reader.. The traffic I am getting for the long tails are converting well and the users stay on my site for 3minutes+ on my site... so onpage I shouldnt have any problems at all. I just have very few aff links on the domain and I am using only one ad/page + I don't use an ad on my mainpage.

Any recommendations, tricks and tips appreciated :-).

    best wishes,
    whery

that happens if you post a comment on a site with a widget in it's sidebar which shows the latest comments... I've deleted the comment 2 weeks ago, but it is still shown in webmaster tools. Is there any way I can boost this process and let this link vanish?

Further more.. is that really the only thing that could've happened? A lot of sites have these widgets. Is google really not able to say that it is just this comment widget?

I don't think widgets link can be that harmful. A lot of websites have those widgets and similar kind of links but never heard of a ranking drop because of them. I think it has something to do with EMD since you mentioned your domain falls into it. Can you share more specific things like domain name, your backlinking strategy etc. EMD doesn't hit websites that have sound quality links coming to them so you might be hit because your EMD has low quality backlinks. Just a thought!

Thank you for the response :-).
Well I can't reveal the domainname since this is BHW. My backlinking strategy was based on:

    tier 1:
    -some manual unique web 2.0s
-social bookmarks with spun description, names... dripfeeded
-really high pr manual blog comments
-2x Senuke Social Slam template with 100% uniqueness spun, readable content
    -PDF submission
    -youtube video submission
    -other video sites submission
    -Yahoo style Q&A posts
    -Forum posts
    -some high pr profiles
    -twitter retweets

    Tier 2:
-scrapebox blast with 300+ anchor texts, randomly spread over every link. Not fed into any indexing service

    -social bookmarks to all links

    -lindexed service

and i tried one "private" link network to one of my high quality manual web 2.0s

All that was done at least 1 1/2 months before the drop. 1 month before the last thing i did was one social slam template from senuke

I think you are probably hit because of the services you've been using. They don't get you natural links and once you are caught you just can't justify those links! Plus recently Google has hit some private networks who were paid so that might also be a reason behind you are hit. But all those are just assumptions you know, nothing is 100% confirmed in SEO.

Hope i can help you further

Thought of that, but lately I am starting to rank for long tail keywords at the first page and I am getting decent traffic. I haven't touched the site at all, and I never got any traffic out of these keywords before (they are not seasonal).

Is it possible that only 3 pages of my whole webpage (30 pages) got hit when I was using the same backlink strategy for all of my pages? Thus I have hit the domain + 2 inner pages more than the other ones, the other pages should have suffered too, shouldn't they?

Further more shouldnt I get the so called love-letter from google for unnatural backlinks?

I understand that it got hit with some kind of penalty. I am just trying to figure why I've got that penalty, because that could tell me whether I still have a chance to revive this domain.

Thank you for your helpful response so far :-)

edit: Can a link network that I've used as a tier 2 to just a single web 2.0, cause my whole site to slip? That would be awesome for negative seo purposes.

My recommendation is that you learn how to use the Google Disavowal Tool. I know others are suspicious that Google is mining data from it... but I'm not so certain. Google already has a huge, I mean huge, amount of data. They've demonstrated what they can do with this data with Panda and Penguin. So I suggest learning to use the tool they've made available to us and to adapt to a more white hat friendly approach. Just my 2cents.

Not necessarily. This is a small sample size and variation always exists on this scale. There's a number of factors that could explain why different pages are affected in various ways despite a consistent linking plan. As for the unnatural backlinks email, Google doesn't always send these. More than likely a number of your links were simply devalued and you haven't been penalized at all. Still, from what you described and according to Google's quality standards, you should be penalized.

This means that if you invest money into bringing your rankings back up, it's very likely that you will be hit by a future update. Keep that in mind. Unless you clean up your overall backlink profile (which looks pretty suspect), I would say you are playing a dangerous game. It might be a better investment to start fresh.

Though I'm sure you've already checked . . . is GWT reporting any crawl errors, errant 404s or downtime for your site, or those pages specifically?

Thank you for the great feedback :-). I really appreciate the comments from experienced bhw members.

No crawling errors, no downtimes, no virus. Everything's alright.

I've checked the current keywords I am ranking for again.:
my 3 main keywords appeared again. I am ranking for them at position 100+ to 200- but none of these 3 pages show up. Instead google shows 6 other pages of my site that were not optimized for this keyword at all. No backlink was given to these pages O.o, only from internal pages.

If I google my own domain, the 3 missed pages are still indexed :-/.. I guess I could search the whole night long to find the reason for the drop. I've not done excessive backlinking.. 2 templates + social bookmarks that are meant to keep google not suspicious during the backlink process shouldn't take down my pages so fast :-/. The other backlinks I've set were manual, not spammy and just as Mr Cutts would love to have everywhere in the web.

I will write them a mail and ask what has happened with my page. I feel not like my pages should've been hit by panda and penguin now. A manual reconsideration shouldnt have problems with this site, too.. so I will risk it.

I will post results (if they write back..) here if you are interested in it.

    best wishes,
    whery

PS.: special thanks for the tips with the disavow tool. I haven't known it before, but I will not use it in this case, because it could implicite that I have done some aggressive seo by myself..

You can try to optimize those pages from start once again! I don't mean that you start disavowing the links you already have if you are 100% sure it isn't a penalty thing. Review the on page factors once again and improve them. Also build some manual but quality links for those pages from authority domains.

I hope this process will regain you the rankings otherwise i don't see any reason of a ranking drop.
