Hi,

I hope the topic fits here.
I bought a domain and an offshore hosting with cpanel. After a week I saw my website on Google search 1 page 6th position. But now Google doesn't list my website on the same position infact it doesn't show my website even within the top 20 pages.

I checked my website's cache on google and upon typing cache:http://website.com a totally different website opens up on the browser. I am so very clueless of what went wrong with my website. My website is on wordpress 2.8. Did somebody hack it? Or did anybody hack the .htaccess file? I can't find the .htacces file on my cpanel either although when i search for files with .hta it shows up as a folder located inside /public_html/.htaccess but when i click that it says nothing found.

Anybody has any idea of what's going on? :(

thanks for all your help.

When is the cache dated from? It could be showing the site from the previous domain owner.

some ftp programs including online ftp scripts do not always show dot files ie .htacess - in most instances you need to toggle an option that allows to display dot files

The cache was 10th july 2009 00:21:29 GMT, it was a new domain.. i registered it myself. But maybe it was available before and recently got expired.

@ukescuba : ok i will check with that option and i think i wil ask the hosting customer care. Just thought of askin here before because i have more faith in BHW members ;)
