Need help. installed wordpress, site redirects to index of /

after installing wordpress my site is up and running.

the problem is whenever I go to my site url. it doesn't redirect to wordpress.

It shows

Index of/

*home
*wordpress

I have to click wordpress first and go to my wordpress site.

http: //"myurl.com"/wordpress

Can you help me guys how can I fix this prob?

What I want is whenever I visit my site it goes directly to the wordpress site I installed.

googled some solution like change the url on the general settings, etc. didn't fix the prob.

Login, and under Settings/General, change the 'WordPress Address (URL)' to http: //"myurl.com"/wordpress.

This should do it.

thank you, I did that already. now I got this error whenever I go to my admin page.

http: //error404.000webhost.com/?

now I can't access my wordpress admin page.

any other solution?

You upload the folder wordpress. What you should do now is open that folder in your ftp software to view its content. Select all its content using ctrl A. Right click on any of the file and click on upload. That should do it. This is for the use of filezila

Your WP was installed inside a subfolder named 'wordpress'.

Your domain url however doesn't 'know' that WP is inside this sub folder, and is looking for it in the 'root' of your web server ('index of').

If changing the admin settings didn't work, here is what you can try next: Some hosting companies with automatic WP installation have a setting inside your web hosting account where you can point the url to the subfolder where WP is installed (sometimes called 'make your wordpress blog your primary domain' or similar).

If that doesn't work, the only other way to fix that would be accessing your sql database and changing the url there, and login in via FTP and change your htaccess file, and an index.php file.

If you are not familiar with that (or your hosting plan doesn't allow you to do that), I suggest you delete this installation, and re-install Wordpress again, this time possibly not installing it in a subfolder, or if you have to, paying attention where during the installation you can point your domain name to the correct subfolder where WP is installed.

Usually, you shouldn't have problems installing WP inside a folder, but something went obviously wrong during the installation. It might now be too messed up so may be your best bet is to start all over again...

thank you everyone, finally fixed it. I was uploading the wordpress on the 000webhost FTP which is in a zip file then it extract on the public_html on a wordpress folder. that was the problem.

Tried to upload it on FileZila, extract the zip file and copy all contents and upload it on my site.

Now its working!
