ok here's what I am trying to do. I have more then a thousand torrents online. I have a shortcut file in all my torrents that points to an affiliate account which is closed now. I would like to update it with my new account link. How do I go about doing it. Do I have to update the shortcut file, make new torrent file and reupload or I can just update the shortcut file on my computer and downloader will automatically start getting the new file. I am not changing the name of the shortcut just the link inside it. please tell me how it works and what can I do to take care of this? I am loosing a lot of traffic on daily basis.

Only way to do it is re-making and uploading the torrents afiak. Even if the name remains the same, the new link in the document will mean it will fail the hash check.

that is why people use a tracker.
that way you just change the destination on the tracker when the offer goes sour.

Or use masked links for your shortcuts and just update the destination whenever you need to.

You're basically screwed with that unless you can forward from old link to a new one. I've been in the same boat and it's a tough way to learn you need to use forwarding on any traffic links that might end up changing in the future
