Hey I've been wondering, and this question is purely hypothetical:

If you put fake files in torrents (like files with random useless content) that are named so people would think they're real warez, videos, etc, is it legal to upload them?

I feel a philoso-raptor caption would be of need here

Uploading warez is illegal , but files with random useless content is ofcourse legal.

Yes its not illegal, besides every torrent guy would not even think about suing.... he will have multi-million damage charges due to sharing of pirated stuff via torrents.... companies will jump on a victim to make everyone else afraid of the situation.

Of course, you can tell from a mile away it's unethical, that wasn't the point of my question. I was just wondering, with all these fake files being passed around the interwebs, do any of them get in trouble? Because i've seen a lot of'em trying fake files + CPA and/or PPI, but they're like on a sinusoidal curve on major trackers. You see them now, next month you see them not, and so on.

Also, there were some rumors about DMCA and RIAA posting fake files on trackers to scout for IPs of piracy tempted internet users. If and only if these claims would be true(another good question: do you think they really do that?), wouldn't they cling on to the fake ones used to monetize in a way or another?

If you are after money, then try it, else, go WF & do Whitehat & forget about BH...

LOL. Sharing on Torrent sites is Legal until you start sharing Copyrighted material. But what is kinda funny. Somone is making a killing posting fake torrents. getting avg of 15k to 20k downloads in under and HOUR!

Well , actually it's not legal cause you are using the company name and details.

BUT , NO company will sue you for posting fake stuff, cause actually you are helping the company fighting the illegal downloaders
