So the gist of it is. About six months ago I started a sales position. I have no desire whatsoever to do cold calling. So I started utilizing LinkedIn and discovered the power that it had. Pretty much what I do is search for decision makers (certain titles) in a specific industry and search. Currently I'm at around 1500 connections and I'm close to capping out. You "cap" at 3000, but I currently have 985 invitations pending. I've got some ideas I'm willing to try and NOT willing to try. I'm looking for somebody to expand on this.

Please keep in my this is my REAL LinkedIn profile I'm using to network with ..

Willing to try...

1. Linbooster - For those of you who don't know this is a tool created by a BHW member. So far it's done me good. Pretty much auto-visits profiles based on keywords. Then those people connect with you.
2. Remove pending connections - I'll do this eventually, but seems like it takes people forever to connect. So I'll hold out on this for a good 10-15 days min. Then I can restart the process and hopefully find 900+ other people I can connect with.
3. Manually try and find OpenLink members that meet my criteria - This would take FOREVER.
4. Find somebody in the same industry that wants to trade connections - This is ideal, but doesn't seem like anybody does this.
5. Create/buy fake profiles and load up on connections that way .. (i.e. just add them back in my real profile)
6. Purchase any "exposure" options from LinkedIn (would LinkedIn ads work here?)

Not willing to try ..

1. Buy connections - Just seems shady in so many ways

Am I missing anything? Is there anyway to SEO my LinkedIn profile that would benefit for sales guy?

At minimum, I hope this post made a little sense.

If you are looking for quality leads from social profiles try Namegeneration no need to build a social network to take advantage of the data that is in all of them. You will need to google the word Namegeneration since I can't post a link here to find the site I am referring to, but it should be easy to find the one I am talking about.

At first I thought this namegeneration tool was uber weak, but now I'm seeing the capabilities of it. Maybe I'll make some calls and e-mails this week from the contacts they give and see if I can turn them into some sales!

Are you using a free account or upgraded to the paid?

Why don't you try it the real way, which is creating a post/thread/topic in a few groups and giving away a little something of what you are good at doing...

For example:

I have nearly 1000 thread replies in many different LinkedIn groups under a topic I created that said "I will Pin your music to my Pinterest account AND tweet it out to my 200,000 contacts, just list your URL here and follow me"

I get HUGE followers, biz contacts and leads from doing this.

Just join a few dozen groups, post a thread about giving people a small promo blast for free if they list their fb page/twitter etc.... and FOLLOW you.

Free. I've had 30-day paid trials before, but my method doesn't have any real advantage to having a paid account. Down the line maybe, but not now.

Probably going to take awhile for something like this to sink in this dumb head of mine, but I'm sure it'll work. Let me sleep on this. I'll most likely PM you and try and brainstorm some ideas.
