Good article that profiles the Twitter spam team.

Definitely worth a read. The takeaways are:

* They ban accounts based on the activity fitting a profile of suspicious behaviour, but they try to avoid false positives.
* They have a small team (30 people) and they sound understaffed.
* They basically lack the resources to follow up on the origin spam.
* Their best tool is the spam report button.

Sound like mass grassing of competitors with the spam report button is the way forward.

Spineless fucking twats will have a field day!!

At the rate "one" can create spammy accounts they simply can't keep the pace with just ~30 employees... Good luck to them relying on the "report" button... Moreover bots can't report anything, right... ;)

Everybody knows that twitter is more of an experiment of AI where an extremely limited number of humans cultivate and raise their bots to interact and talk to each other... lol

I have to admit that just yesterday I was being harassed on my main account by some tool, so I decided that i'd use about 50 of my accounts to report him as a spammer. I checked this morning for the lol's and his account has been suspended.

Oh how amused I was!

Don't know why people are so shocked that this is their method, it's the same as Youtube and Facebook. 90% of their banning and removal of content is from user moderation.
