My Review of the PlentyOfFish Advertising Platform
I posted a review last night of the PlentyOfFish advertising platform. Some of you might be interested. It is still in beta, so issues are to be expected. I'm still running campaigns today and seeing similar results.

No doubt, there is plenty of potential there. But the setup cost ~$500 is still too high. IMHO

I'd stay away from it. Looks like its pretty hard to make your money back and the support is pretty crappy.

That wasn't a setup fee, that was just his budget for the test.

Re: My Review of the PlentyOfFish Advertising Platform
I have been using POF to advertise for a good bit now
Before I got a much higher CTR because the ads were a bigger size but I also paid more CPM.
With the new system it is a "live auction" so at night I will decrease my bids to the minimum and increase to .25 during the day. My CTR is .09.
If you are going to use this platform it is important to be VERY SPECIFIC with who
you are targeting. Age/sex/body type/income/location.
It takes a lot of testing and tweaking to find lasting, profitable campaigns but they
are definitely there.

Yeah, I've been refining my demo's very well and still seeing crap in terms of traffic and conversions. It may just be an issue of the PoF demographic itself, I suppose, but I'm surprised to see campaigns that are flourishing on other social networks failing so miserably on PoF. I know I'm not the only one who has had this problem either.
Anyway, still running a variety of campaigns, still seeing poor results.

Re: My Review of the PlentyOfFish Advertising Platform
The bad thing about platforms being in beta is that it's pretty much lots of money down the drain. I remember when RealTechNetwork started their self serve system, I lost $2,500 in 7 days, but I received $2,000 back due to errors on their part. It took them a total of 75 days to fix the self serve platform with the bugs and errors. It's not really a good thing to jump on boat with NEW platforms until others have tested it.

Their base platform is a very popular one, but I agree. Probably wise to wait until they've got a better handle on how it works.

Re: My Review of the PlentyOfFish Advertising Platform
Interesting review, do you think it could be due to the fact people are skimming through the ads looking only at the photos they are missing the banners?
I'm writing a book. I've got the page numbers done.

I've tried dropping a little bit of text in the "picture" they allow beside the ad, directing the user to the ad, but it hasn't really helped. One of them even got denied because it referenced PoF directly, like "Hey PoF User!" with an arrow pointing to the ad text.
