Is the site flipping business saturated now?
I was wondering about the latest trends in site flipping business. I went through some post in another forum stating that this business has got too much brokers/buyers/sellers around and its been saturated already so newbies can't get in it easily to earn some bucks.
So what does the BHW community say? Is this business saturated now for the newbies? OR they can still try out their luck in it?

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
Any business is the same- You need a business plan and "Luck" does not constitute a business plan!
If a market becomes saturated you raise your game to a new level, a level that isn't saturated.
For that reason i don't beleive the market is saturated, nor do i beleive it to be difficult for "newbies" to prosper in this business.
If you have the skills and can formulate a plan then you will earn money- How much depends on you.

I agree with carlx and newbies need some concrete guidelines before entering into this business as it will lower the risk of incurring loss in start.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
A market only becomes saturated when nobody is thinking.
"When everyone thinks the same thing, nobody is thinking much at all"
As with every business, find your Unique Selling Point and promote it. Reputation establishment and even when there are thousands of competitors, you will be the lead branded name.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
I don't think so. I sold my site on flippa for like $500 profit.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
Plenty of money in it still.
The niche is only going to grow in popularity as more people move away from traditional investments and start looking towards online.
Just don't try and copy the 1000000 sellers on Flippa who sell the same old crap over and over - there's certainly not a long term model in that.

On the way he worded that I am guessing that means he built the site from scratch as opposed to site flipping.
I've heard that removing AdSense from the site and showing lots of potential for it is more effective than actually publishing decent earnings as it brings in guess work and you may strike better prices is somebody overestimates potential.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
it's true, the competition got higher, but if you know how to do it correctly there's still enough money to be made. I always use this strategy, grow website, i make sure it's seo optimized, i provide google analytics or other stasts (very important), and i always get sales. I make like this betweeen 150$ and 300$ using this simple strategy.
How I establish the "right price": payment of hosting for the period it was hosted + 10 months * averege earnings + domain price - the nr of months it has been used
Nothing is too complicated and to me it worked every time.

How many sites have you sold like that? Which niche you chose for those sites?

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
If anything, site flipping is only going to get bigger, purely because you're going to have more and more web users as time goes by.
As long as there is a commodity in hot demand, there shall always be trade.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
yes it is but if you think so. the problem is we know something that is good. but we think about doing it or not doing it for a century & when we decide to, the market gets changed.
if you think of something put it immediately into action.that's the secret

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
I don't think site flipping is saturated, possibly a little slowed now, but am sure it'll pick up as more creative money-making sites show up.

It definitely hasn't slowed, website sales are at an all time high (even though multiples are down on previous years). People will continue looking online as a way to generate income.
You just have to think a little differently

Thats true. If you can think out of the box, you will get success surely. Flipping needs that approach.

Re: Is the site flipping business saturated now?
I noticed a decrease in multiples that some websites get sold for (mainly under 10-20k), and i think it's mainly due to Google's latest updates, panda update, and etc, which makes investment in business that are seo based much riskier. 1-2 years ago, if you had an authority site in a niche, you were gold. Nowadays, even legit businesses, commerce stores, etc, got penalized and this scares potential buyers.
I noticed increase interest in real online businesses. I think brokers have a good future, just the hustlers which used to flip lower value websites have a though time.

Panda update has hit many businesses and indirectly flipping also. By the way, are the hustlers going to survive now?
