I'm looking for an expert to explain to me how the insurance sites for sale on Flippa make money. I'm not interested in Adsence - I want to know how these guys turn a profit through cpa/affiliate income.

Its fairly simple, signup for one of the insurance companies as an affiliate (there are many about) alternatively go through CPA (i prefer to be a direct affiliate and i like the pay per lead rather than pay per conversion)

Once youve done that promote your website like any other, generate traffic and income, flip for a profit.

Alternatively do something i like to call an "instaFlip" and dont bother promoting it or getting traffic/income and sell the site purely as a "dream" get a lower sale price but you can smash it on the back end- flipping a site in a matter of days for hundreds of dollars pure profit is always fun!

Don't offer to pay for this sort of information- there are people who would willingly share it, its no secret!

When doing an "instaFlip" do you project on how much the site can earn?
Or do you just sell it like saying this site has huge earning potential, etc.?

I will outline the projected income based on the best possible result from being in #1 position on google for the main keyword.

I then reiterate that in aftersales and let them know just how important taking one of my aftersales packages are! - double ... triple.... quadruple the income from the sales and pay no extra fee's to flippa.
