Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
https://flippa.com/2668755-alexa-25k...ws-100k-visits
The seller has claimed to have made $2764.50 since august through email marketing which has nothing to do with the site but it sold for $1050. By looking at the analytics the sites traffic is mainly from bots and more than likely has email addresses that nobody reads.
Maybe I’m missing something here but it looks like a scam to me.

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
I have seen many sites recently on flippa going for that price or higher which have absolutely nothing in them. Absolutely rubbish.
They all claim to make 100s and 1000s of dollars in 10-30 days time.
I am not saying that all of them are fake but i am sure more than 70% of these are fake.

How come Flippa let these sites be sold away like this without putting any check on them? Are they really fake?

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
Somebody definitely got scammed. I'm looking to put up a 3 month old site which I just started monetizing this month. Made me about $550 so far with about 30 mins of work a day. I feel most people will feel the way this thread has responded so I'm leaning towards keeping it another month to show a solid two months earnings. Would that be enough or would you still not buy it? I can give analytics proof of 30k november and 50k december search traffic.
*PLEASE NOTE: I am not trying to sell or advertise my site. I'm asking for advice here.

You have to understand that most of the flippa buyers do not think like us. They are looking for revenues and traffic. Most of them just search on google for your main keyword and see if its ranking high, if you claim SE traffic. This is why those scammy sites get sold. Flippa buyers are looking for stable income with minimum work.
Having said that, it's always better to show 2 or 3 months of earning. Site's age and consistent earning play a big part in gaining their trust and also in shooting your price high.

It is near impossible and not feasible for flippa to check every site like that. They're doing the best they can with verified analytics and adsense stats. Just like any other marketplace, the rest depends on the buyer. It's the buyer's responsibility to verify the claims before buying.

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
Alright guys,
Luckily I saw this thread.
First let me tell you that I was the seller.
And the buyer is definitely not scammed.
The traffic was legimate and the members I was getting was very real and targetted.
I never used any bots at all.
The reason I sold it because it needed a lot of maintanence and it used to crash a lot too due to high server load + hostgator was sucking up $275 per for dedicated web hosting Or else I would not even think yo sell it..
Finally hostgator told me to get a web developer which mean more trouble for me so I decided to sell it.. And trust me guys it went really low price.
So the thing is, the stats were real, believe it or not, I never used any bot sign up believe it or not rather I had captcha on every page so that I can avoid as much spam as possible...
Ofcourse there are too much scammer oout there but I definitely didn;t..
Rest, I love BHW!
I dont post regularly but readin it from years.

Yeah, this is what I've heard about people who buy on flippa as well. But, you'd think they'll run out of money or at least catch on to scammers sooner or later.

I've been doing alot of research over the past few months and can't beleive what some sites are selling for on flippa - especially the claimed revenue when the sites aren't more than 2 months old.

I stopped fighting my inner demons. We're on the same side now.

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
Don't let seeing a buyer get scammed deter you from listing your own website on Flippa. Although it's sometimes hard to tell a scam from a real site, it's NEVER hard to tell a real site from a scam site. You know when you're really bidding on something valuable. Similarly, you know when you're selling something valuable. So if you are offering value, make it obvious and the buyers will come.

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
If sites with faked profit and email lists are selling on Flippa, I'd say that's a good sign legit sites will do well. However, it could have been an actual earning site, because email is going to deliver direct traffic, which is untraceable on regular logs. You never know what was discovered behind the scenes by the buyer, the seller could have been in direct contact showing proof of income.

Re: Site sold on Flippa for $1050 Legitimate or did someone get scammed?
I see alot of newly established sites (1-3 months old) being sold on Flippa officially claiming no revenue, however stating in the title and description that the site has made $xxx.xx in just 1 month. These new sites are listed all the time by what appears to be the same seller with multiple Flippa accounts. They always get in the most active area and get 40+ bids and selling new sites for $400.00+.
I've seen some of these new sites go for well over $1000.00!
How do they get so many hungry buyers?
When I put a site on Flippa I barely get any views!

Well, you have to think, if they are really earning that much.....
...Why are they selling such an awesome earning machine, when they can just keep it...
