What is with all these directory sites that are for sale on Flippa? Were they a big thing a few years ago? Are they worth any money now?

I see lots of these directory sites being sold for less than $500 and they usually have decent PR and a ton of traffic. But no one wants them... any one know what the story with these sites is?
