Default Is flippa really worth the fees?

I recently listed johnnycash.net on flippa and started the bidding at $200 which I dont think is very high for a domain name like that and I have had it up for almost two days and have had a whopping 8 people view the listing. I didnt do the homepage thing or any upgrades but I would have figured I would have gotten more than 8 views in two days. Hell I could have put it on ebay or craigslist and got more than that.

I tried selling a micro niche website with 600 views a month and it wasn't worth it. I ended up having to buy it myself through another account. I had hardly any views and I had it up for 30 day with like 2 bids for 2 dollars. I haven't figured out how to sell on there but I have failed.

Although I do not make money this way, I think it's one of those hustles that isn't so steady but when you do hit, you hit big.

I would say you have to have a good perception of what's going on in society in general and the web to make it happen.

It depends on what you are selling. If you're selling a website that doesn't make any money then people most likely aren't going to buy it, on the other hand if you're selling something thats already making money you'll get a good response.

If you are trying to sell MNS then you should start your bid from 50$ with No Reserve people will be interested in that alot. As one bids then other will think ahhhh its going 50$ then he will bid 60$ and in this way interest increases more and more and you will get your desired price.
So understand the human nature on flippa and then list your website.
More techniques are there. Try to Read them and then List your website selling non-earner website is also an art.

I saw your website. LISTING IS totally incomplete. You have to show the Proofs what you Earned website traffic proof. and write the description in html mode and it should be more descriptive.

it's really gone downhill from people using firebug/scammers. It's still quite possible to sell good on the site if the domain is actually worthy

Like everything else you try to sell, there is a right way and a wrong way.

Look at the sites which are getting the high bids,
Its not because they are anybetter than yours its because , they are being sold the correct way.
There are some good books here
    just use the search button

I sold a micro niche site on there for more than I wanted to get. If your site is making money it should sell. Search here on BHW as there are some great guides available.

The listing should be data driven and provide attachments. Serious buyers want to see everything.

That was kind of the issue is this site is not really making any money but it is a good domain name but that was not really my question. My point was after 10 days I have 20 people that have viewed the auction. You are saying that there is not much data but someone would actually have to look at the auction to see that. For $20 I expected to get more than 20 views in 10 days was my point.

I agree. It seems now everyone is so lazy all they want is to buy a website making 100% a year return on investment and them not have to do any work. If it was that easy everyone would be internet millionaires!

Yep! Don't use Flippa or take the $200 success fee waiver upgrade

On a serious note, while one could in theory open a new account before each sale and then simply not pay up the fee - by doing this you would pretty much shoot yourself in the foot, as on Flippa reputation is everything and even if saving $200 is worth going through the trouble of opening a new account before every auction, getting a new CC etc. (which it's not), it's most certainly not worth the loss in credibility that is due to the fact that you'll be using a brand new account every time you list a site.

I feel it wont be easy for anyone looking to crack the flippa system. They have pretty solid checking features.

And the bidders will be interested in your listing only if you have a good reputation.

putting a listing on flippa without $40 featured listing is like you killing your $19 off of your paypal balance. Flippa is really expensive and if you don't have a site that's either very interested or very hot. don't put it there

I've been looking around on Flippa a lot lately, as I'll be selling my first niche site on there in a month or so (waiting till it has some history of earning). Like some others said, I think the main thing with Flippa is that people want to buy things that are already making money. You'd probably be better off selling that domain over WF or something.

As far as the poster who said he was having trouble selling his MNS on Flippa. Well, did they have any revenue? If so, how much? You didn't mention revenue, so I'm going to assume they didn't. Again, like others said, people want cash generating sites. Get them earning even a couple bucks a day, and they'll sell before you know it.

Flippa has the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good = some people do buy sites there, sometimes for high $$$ Sites with revenue and traffic obviously do better.

The bad = Multiple accounts via proxies bidding on their own listing creating artificial bids. For example...
    BIN = $150
    Bid starts at $10
    SOmeone bids $10
    Someone else bids $20
    You bid $30

Listing owner wants $100 for the product so he bids $50 on his own listing.(Proxied accounts) and keeps bumping up the price hoping someone else will bid $100.
Bid ends. No winners. Owner wastes the $19. Nobody REALLY wins except flippa.

The ugly = these are the guys that overinflate the price of their listings, I mean $20 scripts at $5,000, $10,000 and $100,000 on up. It's laughable.
And the ones that don't buy a damn thing but keep posting comments and finding fault with the site that you have listed.

Conclusion: if you've got money to spare, flippa is a gamble. YES, you can sell sites there but you need to be aware of how the game is played.

Yes but they don't get the traffic and have no reputation so even though they're cheaper, they don't sell anything. Flippa's traffic is what makes it worthwhile. Many copycats have come and gone. Despite offering lower fees, they can't match the traffic. It's like Fiverr...copy cats come and go but again, they can't get the traffic of an established site. Imitators rarely succeed.
There is a huge need for an alternative to flippa. In fact, eBay should do the trick. Ebay allows you to sell "site" installation without requiring shipping. If eBay had a clue, it could be flippa out of business in no time flat by creating a section just for site flipping. Lower fees, HUGE traffic and it already has the reputation.
The fee could be say $5 to $10. Done deal.

Yea, I've had somе successes with flippa. I sell sites from a certaіn specific niche еvery 2 months. I've developed thіѕ video marketing technique that gets thе site's daily targeted unique visitors tо 2000. Then I јust implant adsense for it to earn 75 - 150 dollars реr months.

So far, I've sold 11 sites оf thаt niche. The lowest wаѕ sold $750

The trick іs tо hаvе a site with sоme traffic аnd revenue. Start uр sites dоn't sell tоo wеll frоm my observations
