I would hate to see a guy that owns a sizable SEO service backlink that hard... that would be bad for him I would think.

I think that would be very, very bad for him. especially if the owner of a sizable SEO firm were to heavily backlink ALL threads/sites about him.

I don't think we know anyone here who might own a sizable SEO firm, but just sayin'.

See how he operates: Asking you to do unusual things from an account you don't know. I would suggest you take extra care next time you get a friends request. The difference between l0veme and loveme or some other nice replacement might just cost you a few bucks. You verify those accounts before you trust them...

Another thing is huge profits, the "I am really in a jam but all my friends are on vacation" propositions and laughing in your face when you yell at him.

You really shouldn't yell at this sort of people, it is feeding trolls.

What you should be doing is play dumb. Very dumb.
You stall every tiny thing in the process and annoy the heck out of him!
Waste his time. Start a little blog somewhere or do it via PM if you need group enjoyment but you never ever post about him here in the forums again.

I do remember the other thread that got deleted. That one had a whole different tone to it though. That one was fun and very promising indeed.

To be honest, I think we are talking about two different steps in the same process.

First you want to prevent being scammed and since most scammers, like the current Ken Belonio, are exploiting greed or stupidity they can be avoided a lot of the time or be played with.

After you identify your scammer one would like to track him then trap him by making him do something illegal. (He keeps pushing you to do something stupid while it would be easier or more legit to do it himself for instance.)

I would want to know if the identity used is an actual person and perhaps even a victim of mistaken identity. Such a person should be contacted in any case. Or, as Kenny did, he is actually stupid enough to use his RL name in which case stalking shall commence.

Then you get the step you are referring to by targeting the ones he cares about.

I personally would not stop at the father either since this is a confirmed target now. As an employer, girlfriend, neighbor or whatever you should be warned if someone likes to scam people. Especially if you have proof of that. Which the accusers have.

I do agree that if someone is using his RL name to scam people you should advertise it. My bad. It was just that in the last thread I read there was still some confusion on how many names he was using.

Then again, and I can't stress that enough: Prevention is key.
Without people doing stupid things, no offense intended, he wouldn't have a business model.
I am not talking about you here but from what I have read people will even hand out login details in good faith. To somebody they do not know...

I get the philosophy behind much of what amsterdammer was saying, but Kenny wasn't just your average hit and run scammer, or a clever, build it over time to repeat scams type of person...he hit it hard and fast and jacked a tonne of data and tried to run a shitload of scams very quickly. So IMHO the hivemind did the right thing by outing him very loudly and very repeatedly to protect people.

gregstereo, he actually is a lowlife beginning scammer. The fact that the hive is falling like a brick says more about the hive than about him.

Let me explain this a bit further before I get into useless fights.

While he is stupid enough to use his real name he is using a standard low level scamming strategy. I call it low level because it is not really tweaked. Believe it or not he could take you all for a lot more than he did already.

Step one is build trust, step two is get the loot, step 3 is try and re-scam the same person while step 4 is the bonus of seeing how somebody totally flips out and have the mark thinking that calling a scammer a scammer is an insult. Step 5 is rinse and repeat.
It is a marketing strategy, a business model if you will that has proved itself. Both in scamming and legit companies.

Now look at what he does: He takes a newbie account, offers riches and then takes you for whatever he can.
He offered a review, got a free product through copy paste and then got the OP posting a scam offer potentially compromising his account. Scam, rehash and laugh springs to mind here.
Does this standard setup remind you of collecting money out of a lottery you never entered or some rich dude you never knew but will inherit millions off?

Another thing: He takes freely available info from the forum to verify some strange account to try and collect services others paid for.
Does this remind you of a phone call from your bank to confirm your details including PIN or an email stating your Paypal account will be limited if you don't click the link to log in?

Need I go on?

You say he came hard and fast. I say that is how scammers operate.
Even the twisted versions will come hard and fast eventually. (The twisted versions you should advertise btw as they are trusted peeps going rogue.)
When you turn to the account to scam mode you will lose it quickly and therefor time is a factor.
The fact he is silent now just tells me he now learned not to use his RL id and is thinking of alternative ways. He will soon find them as it really isn't that hard.

Again, while you are focusing on names and advertising, the method is what you should be looking at.
The hive mind needs to be educated to use common sense.
This time he used his RL name, next time he will use yours via a spoofed email for instance.

The current response reminds me of a young farmer boy relocating to the Bronx.
The boy needs to learn trust is earned, people really are out to get him and if it sounds to good to be true: It is!

There is no use in remembering names. Only good thing about having one is to try and strike back at a scammer. Same as any other info he gives you that once checked and confirmed can be used against him.

The fact that Kenny used his RL name just means he is a beginner, it says nothing about how to deal with it and knowing this one identity will not protect you from others.

The hive mind needs to get back to school I think because while the hive feels they are experiencing something new, what they really are is just another niche.

This was my third post about the same thing, and now I even provided tips for Kenny so I think I will leave it for now.
If you guys really don't get what I am trying to say here, in 3 posts, you won't get it in 15 either so I think so it might be better to just stop here before this becomes a How-to-scam-101 thread.

Just like collecting names is not useful, trying to educate those that refuse to listen might be even more pointless.

I would also take another approach into: ruin life tactics. On top of what I have read so far I mean since you have so much RL info on him.

I totally agree there are people here that wouldn't let him in the door just based on his actions, not even knowing his name. The sad part is that it is not enough to protect the 90% of potential targets who are clueless victims trying to remember some scammers name.
