I just moved my websites.

When I am swearing at my computer my husband asks if I am online with "Sue".

These are real conversation that I can prove. I kept the emails. The last one is epic and word for word!

The server at Host for Web has cycles of so much traffic my website wouldn't load.
I have support tickets dating back to Oct over this problem.
The tickets were titled. My Website Is Not Loading and Timing Out
Over and over they asked me what the problem was.
Well duh! Could it be the problem is the one in the title of the message?
Over and over and over they asked for me to run a tracert for my website.
Each and every time, I would be asked why I sent sent a tracert report.
Then they would say the server was working fine when they checked it.
Nothing changed.

My page always took more than a minute to load (when it loaded) and they said it was my layout and content slowing it down.
One told me was my ISP was the problem but wouldn't explain why their sites were the only ones timing out.

Now that I have moved.
My page loads fast and I have had no problem since I moved.

Their tech support people don't actually read the tickets. THE MOST condescending ass holes on the planet!

Probably a year after I got the account this happened.
Why did you change my account name from hobbitstohumans to losilledot com?
I am sorry we cannot change the name of your account once it is setup.
Yes you can cause you did. It has always been under hobbitstohumans.
Then I got a long condescending message telling me that I was wrong and obviously had not paid attention to my account.
I went through my old emails and found my registration email with their confirmation of my account hobbitstohumans.
I got a curt note saying they would send my request to next level tech support. Never acknowledged they were wrong. They didn't say kiss my ass, go to hell or anything.

This weekend I went through this.

Me You billed my credit card. I want it refunded you don't have permission to charge to it.

Them: You have 3 active accounts with us and subscribed for the automatic paypal withdrawal,
you started it yourself and confirmed from your paypal account.

Me: There is no automatic withdrawal on my PayPal account and no money was taken from it. Everything was billed to the credit card.

Them: All you need is to cancel paypal subscription which you started, we can't cancel it and this can be done only from your side. Client starts and cancels paypal subscription from the paypal account.

Me: There is no automatic withdrawal on my PayPal account and no money was taken from it. Everything was billed to the credit card.

Them: We need the Paypal transaction number.

Me: I don't have a Paypal transaction number. Attached are screen caps of my invoices. You will see that the method of payment was Paypal in March and Credit Card in April.

Them: Please explain what do you exactly need? Would you like to change your payment method to paypal?

Attached is a screen capture for the credit card account that you took the April payment from without my permission. It is NOT PayPal. The invoice you used is 154035. I would like that refunded.

I want to cancel everything except the domain registrations you have!!!!!!!

Them: I don't undestand reason of this cancellation if your hosting is working fine with us. We can refund last charge PayPal charge and use credit card instead, I don't see any difficulties here.

I was so pissed off at this point that I had a headache!
It took every ounce of self control to not send back a string of swear words.

I don't fucking care if they refund my credit card. I just don't ever want to deal with those stupid dumb asses.

I have to admit that made my day. Thanks.

Sorry to have been amused by you misfortune.

I am unreasonably pissed.
lol I know that on some level it is funny.

Sorry, but I am holding back the tears! However I did dribble abit in my pants!

It makes you wonder how these guys even turned on thier computer, let alone set up a web hosting business!

Tip: This is the kind of thing you can create a page for, add screen shots, post on digg and get some good traffic from! Why not make some money out of their stupidity!

Since I have the email proof. I have thought about finding every website that ranks hosts and give the full details.

My husband swears the commercial where the man says his name is "Peggy" and hangs up was the model for their tech department. That is why he calls their tech department "Sue".

I don't know how they stay in business. A week ago they sent an email saying my domain was going to expire. If I didn't pay it immediately I would lose my domain.
I said I didn't get an invoice.
They said they had sent an invoice I had not paid.
I said I didn't get an invoice.
I started thinking. I have a calendar setup to warn me a month ahead so I don't miss it. There hadn't been a warning on my computer.
It turns out the domain is up for renewal in June.
There was no invoice in the client area.
Billing couldn't find an invoice.
They told me that I was mistaken. There was no domain due. They had no idea what I was talking about.
I sent them a copy of their email.
He said he did not know where I got it from. I swear to you they acted like I had made up an email and sent it to them.
I paid them.
I didn't want to risk the idiots selling my domain out from under me.

I am currently starting a hosting company that no doubt you will see on BHW in a few days. In my opinion support and the actual quality of your servers are at the exact same level of importance. Blows my mind too OP.

I didn't bother reading the purple, pink and blue text as it kills my eyes, but I do get the jist of the story.

You should have looked into it more. You're running a business that's trying to create a stream of revenue. So making sure all the smaller chain links in a business is essential. One weakspot in that chain and your whole business could be set back for weeks, months or even years.

If I'm ever switching hosts, or anything that has to do with my business', I always spend hours, even months to research alternatives.

AND in terms of hosting specifically, sometimes it's best to pay up an extra buck for a company you know is a good host.

I was with them for four years.

Obviously, you aren't on the server I was on. My website was injected with malicious scripts.

One situation that I didn't mention went on for several days until I threatened to stop service. It was sent to level two support. I sent the messages Q&As like I did up there. Max told me I was right it was badly handled and gave me a free month.

Lately they have just have not done the job. I never delete emails so when Max J. asked me for examples for why I was leaving, I was able to give him the information. Probably more information than he wanted.

The obvious change that has to be made is a ticket has to stay with one person and take longer and/or the new person must be REQUIRED! to READ all previous messages on that ticket. A customer shouldn't have to give them the same information over and over.

When I wanted to combine my sites by moving one as an add on domain to another. I got this: [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]
"the problem with your PHP applications, they will not work after migration because they need code reconfigurations, all docroot paths will change, db names will change and all this needs to be fixed in the application code. So that is not that easy, and someone who offered you might not aware of that. 1 big worldpress site may remain as it is, so that is easy, but other php sites have to be resetup.

Guess what?!??!?
Host Gator moved the sites around the way I wanted them and they work fine.

Most times you're responsible for cleaning malicious code out of your websites just as your responsible for backing up dbs as they don't want to come and edit your pages and I wouldn't want them to be doing that to any of my pages. Often times its your fault its even there, if not you can maybe get a free months hosting but still usually they will only inform you of the pages that are affected and you'll have to clean it up.

Also your second thing sounds like something most hosts would also expect you to do yourself.

That being said your first post though especially about the billing was pretty funny, person was obviously not even reading what you were typing.

it seems to me that for $10/month you wanted them to manage your websites also...
would they need to publish posts in your blogs also?

Hosting companies like this are the reason I got out of the game, selling up and moving on. People go for the biggest bang for their buck and end up with dodgy hosting 'companies' like this.

Any idiot can set up a hosting company nowadays with 10 bucks in their pocket and under the illusion they know their way round a support desk :)

Again, sorry about your problems but people have got to check out the service provided at the outset and not just hunt for the lowest price tag for the most resource - it will never happen :)

Haha....... rofl that is awsome, sorry for being rude but i am pretty sure its run by some 15 year old who may have hired a reseller hosting for a couple of bucks and selling hosting to people.

Facts before flames please. $10 a month I wouldn't have left! :(
I was paying 49.95 a month for 150 gb of disc space and 1300 gb of
bandwidth. When with the company several years ago you had to be a reseller to keep your accounts together. Add on domains were not an option.

It wasn't cheap hosting! It was one of the more expensive ones I checked out. Their hook was that they were small and personal. I did research and I had the website for several years. The company doing my original hosting folded. My website was not for make money and paying more wasn't an issue. I started thinking about trying to make money after being diagnosed with an illness.

The said there sever had been breached and were beefing up security when the codes infected all of my websites.

The second thing was when I decided to change to a more reasonably priced package. I wanted to consolidate my websites and go from $49.95 a month limited account to the $14.95 a month unlimited account. Max said they would have to change servers. When he told me they couldn't move a WordPress site I said I would move the tar ball. Absolutely, no! They wouldn't let me do it for some reason.

Now I read it and it is funny. It was like I was talking to myself. At the time I wanted to smash my computer!
