Default Beware of romeo216: Scammed me $50

Romeo216 started this thread: "Make money with me" in November 2010/
I was new to all this and wanted to make some quick money. I invested $50, a day after he made the thread. I waited for payment on Jan 1st but he didn't pay and wasn't responding to my emails. He came online on skype and I requested him to pay me back and told him that I didn't want to take part in this anymore. He said ok and said he would refund. But he ignored me on skype and he hasn't responded to my pms or emails since 2 months now. Can't even open a Paypal dispute against him. He scammed me $50. I created another skype account and added him. He accepted me and I asked if he was still open for business (same trader business he advertised in thread) and accepting payments? He replied positively and was telling me how/what/when to invest. I then told him that he hasn't paid me yet the money I invested 2 months back. Then and there he ignored me. So he is still trapping people. Please beware. It might not be a big number for others but for me it was. Desperate times, desperate measures. I will now do my research before investing. Anyways, please don't do business with romeo216.

Sorry to hear that you lost your money. Altough I do deal with a few people here on BHW, I make sure not to do business with them if the service is not approved. There are too many noobs who are coming on here scamming other noobs and veterans as well.

So the best practice is to not do business with anyone here if the service is not approved. I've been scammed before too and now I'm very cautious.
The simplest way to negotiate change is to focus on the positive.

It was a JV thread. It sounded too good to be true but being naive and desperate I invested thinking I might earn and ended up getting scammed. I will be cautious now.

This was a forex venture. As we all know, nothing is guaranteed in investments. I didn't take your $50 and run with it. I didn't make any money so no one was paid. I took a loss of my personal funds as well.

    @15Challenger

Didnt you read this line in his Post in the thread?

Investors must agree to allow me to trade for 12 months before any payouts are made.
Being an investor means you are automatically agreeing to that!

I think, I am with his Romeo, but blocking him from messengers is just SHIT.

    ^^
He told me that the original payment will be given back after 1 month of initial investment. He made very clear that he will pay $50 after one month of investment (which was around December 15th) and would then pay monthly. The monthly payment was the reason I agreed to invest. He then said he would make payment on Jan 1st. I waited. He then stopped replying to my pms or offline skype messages. He came online on Jan 11 and I asked him if he would be paying back? He said, he made no profit and everything is back to groud zero. He did say he made no profit but also said that he has the amount in his account which he asked others to invest. He then told me it will take some time to get profits and he would pay on Feb 1st. I wanted my money back so I could started with my micro niche journey so I asked him on Jan 11 to pay me my amount and that I didn't want to take part in this. He said ok and said he would pay back at that moment. He went offline and never came back. He IGNORED me. First he says he would pay on Jan 1st, then Feb 1st and then ignores me off skype. He never told me that he made any loss. He just stopped responding.

romeo216- Didn't run away with my money? Really? You don't respond to my mails, ignore me off skype and don't pay back. Isn't that running away?

Also, here is the coversation that happened on skype. I created another id because romeo had ignored my original id:
[2/9/2011 1003 PM] David Emmen: hey man
[2/9/2011 1006 PM] David Emmen: you there?
[2/9/2011 1017 PM] David Emmen: are you still open for business?
[2/9/2011 1035 PM] Bill Lawrence: yes
[2/9/2011 1037 PM] David Emmen: i want to make money every month
    [2/9/2011 1055 PM] Bill Lawrence: Well I'm accepting investors...I'm a forex trader
[2/9/2011 1002 PM] David Emmen: how much to invest?
[2/9/2011 1044 PM] Bill Lawrence: Between $200 - $1000, whatever you can afford in that range
[2/9/2011 1052 PM] Bill Lawrence: I have a pool of investors
    [2/9/2011 1058 PM] David Emmen: i only have $70
[2/9/2011 10:29:02 PM] David Emmen: pool of investors?
[2/9/2011 10:29:06 PM] David Emmen: they are getting their money?
[2/9/2011 10:29:14 PM] Bill Lawrence: I cant do anything with $70
[2/9/2011 10:29:17 PM] Bill Lawrence: sorry
[2/9/2011 10:29:34 PM] Bill Lawrence: Yes a pool, meaning multiple investors
[2/9/2011 10:29:42 PM] David Emmen: they are being paid monthly?
    [2/9/2011 1053 PM] David Emmen: i can invest $240
[2/9/2011 1056 PM] David Emmen: how much will i get?
[2/9/2011 1000 PM] Bill Lawrence: yes they're being paid monthly
[2/9/2011 1042 PM] David Emmen: strange. i invested with you and you haven't paid me anything.
[2/9/2011 1049 PM] David Emmen: you ignored me too
He says, that the investors are being paid monthly and he is still accepting investors. After I told him that he never paid me. He ignored this id too.

Pitchblack - I know it was stupid of me to trust him.

Romeo216 - Before investing you told me two things:

You will return my investment after 1 month.
    You will then pay monthly.

You also said you are well experienced and you are guaranteed to make money. You never told me that you made any loss. I came to know about this because of this thread. Is this how you do business? By ignoring everyone who invested? Are you even serious? You also deleted your yahoo group by which you were going to keep everyone updated. You are justifying ignoring me with THAT reason.

You could have replied to my PMS. You did not, not even one of them. You never updated me with anything. I also told you that I don't want to be a part of this anymore and you said you will refund and then ignored me. Is that how you do business?

You said the payment will be done on Jan 1st, then said it will be done on Feb 1st. It's Feb 10 and still you haven't paid me. If I had never opened this thread, you would have never responded to me!

You also openly lie to people (my other skype id) that your investors are being paid monthly. Does lying come under your business rules?

I wonder how much he made... at least 20 noobs would jump on this i imagine. But most may be too embarrassed to admit it here.

Have admins considered something to change the way people open threads like that asking for money?

when you said that they were going to get the money back it means that it's not longer an investment gig; you made it into a guarantee putting on the same scale as scammer. If it was an investment you should have said that it's possible that they won't get the money back - (and that is it's a risk to invest) not that people were getting paid monthly etc, etc. Ban recommended.

I think you should refund the guy, you have ignored him and he is right when he says you shouldn't have treated him like that. If you lost his money and couldn't pay him you should have told him and not ignored him, that just makes you look bad and if you have any decency you will refund him purely on the way you have treated him.

Lol... paying monthly to investors and same time saying that he did not make any profit and loose all money? investing is a bitchs as you cant prove he made money.. you just need to trust hes telling you the truth how much he has profited via forex.

People who can, sue if not cooperating or not getting money back, as rome tells different stories, so far lied even.

When there is a lie.. there ought to be more lies infesting.

I was just reading through it, Romeo you moved the goalposts so many times in that thread it has scam written all over it. You did say you'd pay them back their investment after one month but you kept changing the amounts required needed to invest just to get investors, seems like you were desperate and needed a quick buck and these people were the victims, unfortunately for you one of them spoke out.

Anyone who claims steady monthly payments for forex trading is a scammer. If there's one industry that one cannot guarantee anything, that's forex. It is a very unstable and very risky market for even veterans who have 10 years experience. Because it is very possible to lose all your money plus some in less than 1 minute. It's nothing like the stock market. In stock market you have room to exit with some loss and you won't end up below zero most likely. This is not true for forex.

The reason for that is, when you invest in forex, you can play with more money than you have. Therefore, the results maybe disastrous if you lose. Do not take these people serious. Anyone who can make lots of money with forex has no time to waste on any internet marketing forum. Either play yourself and get first hand experience or keep doing what you know best, and forget about getting rich by laying on the couch doing nothing. There's no such thing. Wake up!
    Knowledge is power!

i was just reading over the guys thread

Investors must agree to allow me to trade for 12 months before any payouts are made
    - seems a bit long

then he wants 15 people to pool cash for this even though she states
    > I made $20,000 in 2 months with it < on his own

    another user responds
bro you made 20K in two months and YOU need Investment?

    then an edit to
Clients will be paid their initial investment of $100 or $200 after 1 month.

    and finaly
I have 5 investors already. 10 spots left

did they all get blocked per his comment further up this thread
    > But people must understand rules and investment opportunities

You said the payment will be done on Jan 1st, then said it will be done on Feb 1st. It's Feb 10 and still you haven't paid me. If I had never opened this thread, you would have never responded to me!
Dear OP, those 2 green ones may save you this time, seriously, but what would you do next? Would you reinvest in another "rose" without taking care to know about the hidden thorns? The red one shows that you will take another dip if some other one tells you that he too is experienced and will guarantee you weekly payments...

Or would you be cautious and pay heed to the "yellow" blinking signals ("carefully watch the traffic and then move") given by lots of members on any such "rosy" threads in future?

Of course not degrading you my friend, but only requesting you to be more cautious... hope you understand the concern.

Why not just ban Forex posts? Job done?

Hopefully it will stop these newbies bumping year old threads to bump post counts

I would like to state that romeo216 is a disgrace to the 216 suffix. 216 being my most lucky number, and I am completely ashamed to see him using my number. He is in no way associated with me.

I know it was stupid of me to invest and trust a random guy. I invested within a day or two after he created the thread because it sounded too good so I gave it a shot. Then I saw everyone warning not to invest and got worried. Then romeo216 said that he will return the investment back within a month so I was a little relaxed. Whenever I asked for updates he didn't respond or said he was busy and one time he said everything was going fine. I waited for a month for payment. But it never happened and he then deletes the yahoo group, ignores me on skype and stops responding. Now he says he did all that because it comes under his business rules. I hope he gets banned.

I've been trading for nearly 6 years now. I struggled early in my career but over the last 2 years I've become a pretty good trader, winning about 72% of my trades.
This was a forex venture. As we all know, nothing is guaranteed in investments. I didn't take your $50 and run with it. I didn't make any money so no one was paid. I took a loss of my personal funds as well.

Romeo, both the above posts are made by you. You mentioned that you are good trader, and now saying you lost your personal funds too.

I agree you mentioned in the first post, returns will be given after 12 months, but again this was posted by you.

Clients will be paid their initial investment of $200 after 1 month.

Clients will then be paid out monthly, $100 per month for 5 consecutive months.

So refund 15challenger $50. You have 2 days time to refund the money.

@15challenger - Do you think, this figure is achievable?

    $50 investment = $25,000 return in 12 months
    $200 investment = $50,000 return in 12 months
Instead spending your hard earned money like this type of JV threads, Go search for threads in money making section, Read & Implement it.

Time to have some strict Rules for JV section.

That figure was impossible to achieve. But then he talked about paying monthly and I fell for it. Thanks for helping. I hope he refunds. Learnt my lesson.

    Well 15Challenger,

I wish to give you a tip.

When you feel like going for an investment seeing a thread in BHW, wait for people to put their inputs on the thread.

I would like to add these specially.

Wait for these guys to get their hands on the thread.

    1.Erricson
    2.ExtraWinner
    3.Dansomers aka wannabie
    4.Even Bigbuddy sometimes
    5.Greywolf and Meathead1234
    6.CyrusVirus
    7.Srb888
8.Hexalor (He comes up rarely though!)
9 And there are many more, that I am missing in the list!

These guys arent here to shit, but to avoid shit from happening. They do have some patience to analyse the proposals and pinpoint and throw away the shit out of the good ones.

So next time when you are up for investments, think twice and revise thrice and then jump in!

And if you get a full refund from him, I will gladly pay him $5 for his good mind in the end of the day. (Well, he dont deserve it actually, but I feel like he does! A complement )

It doesnt add much to him(maybe) but atleast, he would be getting it for being polite and cultured and it isnt the money he is grabbing with false advertising.

Ball is in your court mate

Wow thanks for putting me in that post @Extremephp!

I just thought I was a horrid rude bastard

Seriously though people take this as wise/stupid words...... Take 5 minutes longer looking at something and you get a view better view in the long run! Take a quick look and you get by the bus!

edit : I have just posted a few tips on not getting scammed : http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackha...ml#post2510067
