Time Warner Cable
Dear Time Warner Cable,
Fuck you.. that's all I got.
Ok.. let me start from the beginning. When they first installed our service.. they sent the fattest most disgusting guy out who stole some of our mints when he installed the cable. When he installed the cables, he had to run split lines or something and forgot to hook the cables up.. at least he says.
So we had to call someone else out and anyone who's ever called Time Warner knows how that goes. "We'll have a guy out between 8 AM tomorrow and some time next month."
So.. that guy gets there halfway through the next day (which surprised me), and he sets the cables up properly. Then we were having connection/speed issues so we find out he used the wrong lines when he corrected the first guy's mistakes. So once again we have to have another guy come out and install everything correctly.
He said once he left that our speed was cut in 9/10s from the first guy who set it up.
Let's travel forward in time now a few months.. and now our internet just randomly turns off when ever it feels like it, and it's having some serious hella lagging problems lately. Aside from that, I upload torrents but since I have a static IP this is a pain. So I called them asking if it was possible to reset an IP.. and this is what I got
One Guy: Turn your modem off for 15 seconds
Another Guy: Type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew and your IP should be new.
And Yet Another Guy: It takes 60 seconds for a static IP to reset.
So now I'm on the phone with them again .. (been on hold for 1 hour now) and I was going to ask if it was possible to purchase or switch to a Dynamic IP Address or if there was any way to change our account into this. Since we live in an actual city area, I figured it was possible but I don't know.
I pity who ever answers this phone.. I called our local town office and they had no idea what I was talking about so he had to transfer me to a higher level of technical support.
I've had Time Warner 4 different times in 4 different places when I moved around a lot.. and usually the speed is blazing fast and I never have any problems.. but ever since I got time Warner in Urbana, Ohio I've had nothing but problems with about the biggest dumb asses working their tech support!

Re: Time Warner Cable
Comcast is a bit goofy, the company itself, but the net connection I have has been stable since they got their crap together after their merger with Insight. If I lived in an area with buried cable lines storms wouldn't be an issue on knocking it out for hours.
Comcast also got nailed for limiting and dropping P2P traffic and they are supposed to stop that practice.
Other than speed it isn't much different than when I had DSL, with the same screw ups AT&T made when they took over SBC.

Re: Time Warner Cable
I think it's just some fat ass slob named Cleetus who's 40, wearing a wife beater with a big bag of Doritos who surfs Redtube in his cubicle and when the phone rings, he flips a coin
Heads = Refer it to someone else who will do the exact same thing
Tails = Wait an hour and flip again

Re: Time Warner Cable
TW's support, SUCKS big time.
So does their equipment. Vista hates it and I've had to replace my modem 3 times.
sigh, I wish a new internet company would come my way.

Re: Time Warner Cable
Fios is available here, but I've heard too many install nightmares to let them install it in my house.

Re: Time Warner Cable
Yep.. even at 2 Am.. these assholes won't answer their Live Chat Support.
I swear.. I seriously pity the next person I talk to from this company.. I hope it's some new guy on his very first day.. this is most ridiculous bullshit service I've ever had. I've been trying to get in contact with a company that offers live support 24/7 for over 5 hours now.
Time go get a new ISP
