Default How to make your own Private Proxy? Easy...

    Requirements:

    1) *nix server
    2) Putty or any other Shell client

    Lets go:

    [root@]# wget http://security.nnov.ru/soft/3proxy/0.5.1b/3proxy.tgz
    [root@]# tar xzf 3proxy.tgz
    [root@]# cd 3proxy
[root@]# make Makefile.unix (for *nix servers, for BSD different)
    [root@]# make install
    [root@]# cd src
    [root@]# cat >conf
    nserver 127.0.0.1
    auth none
    socks -p6666
    proxy -p6667
    internal 127.0.0.1
    log /dev/null
    <CTRL> + <C>

Ok, what we have configured above:

socks -p6666 - on this port we have running socks proxy
proxy -p6667 - on this port we have running anonymous proxy
log /dev/null - fun part,in file /dev/null you can write, but you can't read from it - no logs

    Continue:

    [root@]#./3proxy conf &
    2 times <ENTER>
    [root@]# exit

Ok, now proxy server running and waiting for you. Enjoy.

This works on any hosting provider. Don't know how to use shell or don't have it? Hit Thanks button and I will post how to install it with just cPannel access.

Does this make the box an open proxy or is it tied to a user/pass?

auth none - Disables both authentication and authorization. You can not use ACLs.

auth iponly - Specifies no authentication, ACLs authorization is used.

auth nbname - Authentication by NetBIOS name + ACLs. NetBIOS name of 'messenger' service is obrained before ACL validation.

In details it's explained in Proxy config file, just RTFM

    This is good. Really good

I guess I'll have to read 3proxy's manual severals times, but I'll ask this anyway:

Is it very difficult to add a password?

    and managing multiples ips?

    last: a password x ip?

anyway, thanks you for this, and thanks for the video, that really put this in perspective

Keep in mind that it will get your hosting account killed in many cases and sometimes they might try to push fees as most don't allow proxies. (break of AuP)
So either ASK before doing it or use it on unimportant accounts of yours (if they are in another country it's also unlikely they can do more than bitch and kick you)

I posted a similar thread then found this one since I've been thinking about this, to answer this question you can only create one per host since you would only have one IP on your hosting account and even if you had more they would be in the same c block making them too similar... if you had multiple accounts, though you could maybe get ones that are different enough

Don't ask them first.... haha what do you think their answer will be? Just cover your tracks and use a throwaway visa gift card when buying the host account.. also you may want to use a vpn or proxy that provides decent speed to connect to this proxy (pretty sure its not that hard to set up a double proxy like this) that way they don't have a read on your real IP and it would take some major thing like the FBI getting involved for them to figure it out

does this work like a vpn thru putty or can you give someone else the port: p6667 and ip of the server and they'll be able to access it?

oh dudes you wont be happy with that proxy setup will be detected very fast as a proxy since its open. better setup a squid3 proxy and use it via a safe ssh session protected by iptables. that works best and is much more secure! any setup guide needed? PM me if interested (so i can write one)!

Why 3proxy will be detected and squid will not?

I learn something new every day here at BHW. Kinda takes me back to when I was an IM newb and I was always like "what the hell does that mean?".
With this, I know for the most part, but I must still learn more.
Last thing I truly had to investigate to understand was DMRs. Funny how you can know so much about IM and still draw a blank on certain things that will seem like child's play 1 month from now.

Nice thought, but, false. I would HATE to give someone false information, much like you i'm sure.

A lot of businesses and government agencies in particular run proxies, open proxies at that.

Moreover, it's not running on your typical HTTP/Proxy port. It's running on 6666/6667 which are the RFC standard ports for IRCd's.

Royx, try packetflip for a paid proxy solution and get some PVAs for CL posting. 1 post per IP per PVA per 48 hours is the rule so you don't lose your PVAs.

The reality is that the expense of buying, for example, 20 hosting accounts to get 20 different IPs for proxies will end up costing more than other solutions currently available. That is, unless you have a list of really cheap hosting providers you may save a few bucks (or if you have an aircard/dynamic DSL line then it's even cheaper).

    [root@]# tar xzf 3proxy.tgz
    [root@]# cd 3proxy

    auth none
    socks -p6666
    proxy -p6667
    internal 127.0.0.1
    log /dev/null

    Hi,

Could you please tell me if it's possible to have squid3 (!, not 2.6!!!) running under CentOs 5.X??

Could you send me anything about it?

    Much appreciated!

    Thank you.

I have also just discovered Dante proxy server and installed it on all of my VPSes. Took 5 minutes to start from a vanilla Ubuntu to get a proxy running tied down to my IP address.

Did a post of it on my blog (see sig!)

Installed ProxySwitch in Firefox and I can dive in and out of proxies like nobodies business!

Don't forget to delete your flash LSOs and standard cookies, otherwise changing IPs is for naught (or does ProxySwitch do that automatically?)

Hey has anyone tried using the stuff found at -

    Code:
    http://www.elite-proxy.net/
It looks like it would be an excellent purchase but as always I want to consult BHW before using it. Any free alternatives? lol... Can someone please crack this and upload it here lol.

No, you can assign as many IPs as you want for proxies. It doesn't just use the main IP, matter of fact you can tell it to NOT USE the main IP, and just use other IPs.

I have squid 3.0 running on my CentOS 5.4 VPS, so it works fine.
