Hi,

I'm working with someone in NYC for local SEO. Since I'm based in Chicago, search results show up there and not here. Also her adwords only runs in NYC.

So I need to find a proxy that will give me a NYC based IP. How can I do this?

Also, is there any recommended reading besides the "Please Read" threads here? I'd like to know more about the dark side.

Thanks.

cloakfish usually contains IPs from NY, otherwise you can also look for a VPS or private proxy provider with servers in NY (google might help)

Packetflip (of packetflip.com) has some nyc proxies I believe. I'd order from him.

Thanks. I was looking at Cloakfish, especially since your sig shows
Select your IP by City from hundreds of IPs, gain untraceable anonymity: Cloakfish.com

There's nothing showing how it's possible to know the geolocation of any given IP. Could I simply choose/rent access to a single/few IPs I select based on the location? I don't need much.

You can see the location of a proxy when visiting proxy-check.squabbel.com.
It's a free part of the cloakfish website, you can see if the proxy is secure and where it is located (including the city and region)

P.S.
Try that hint from listshootingstar first, sounds good ^^
I actually did not know you can restrict the region of google more than just country based but it makes sense.

i think you can just add

Code:
&gl=NY
to the end of your search query, probably don't even need a proxy

Worked perfectly! Thank you! It gave me a starting point to look further, and I found out:

explains this in detail. (Sorry, can't post URLS, not enough posts yet.)
