Unhappy Tearing My Hair Out! Need Insight on Proxies plz!

Okay, so it's safe to say that I'm overwhelmed when it comes to proxies. I've read a bunch of information including all the stickies on proxies and continue to become even more confused.

What I seriously could use is some type of basic proxy guide for SEO research. I have a number of questions...

What makes a good proxy? How does one spot a bad proxy exactly?

What's VPS? Are they better than normal proxies?

    What's an elite proxy?

What does scraping proxies mean exactly? When should I scrape proxies? I hear this term when Scrapebox is discussed often, why?

How good are private proxies, when should one use private proxies?

How many private proxies would I need if I was to use SEnukeX and Scrapebox?

I would appreciate the information and insight immensely! Thanks!

Good proxies pass the Google test (not banned by google) and are relatively fast. Private proxies are the best because public proxies die really fast since many people are using them.

If you are looking into proxies search for private proxies. VPS is a form of hosting and doesn't really relate. People run scrapebox on VPS since it's like running it on a computer in the cloud, but once again, has nothign to do with proxy
    What's an elite proxy?
Elite proxies are anonymous. Others are transparent so people can still see the original IP address (sorta defeats the whole purpose).
What does scraping proxies mean exactly? When should I scrape proxies? I

Scrapebox doesn't really scrape proxies, but rather checks them. This applies if you choose to go with public proxies (though I guess you can with custom footprints?). You first need a proxy harvester to collect all the proxies posted on forums/websites/any place else daily, then you use scrapebox to check if these proxies pass the Google test (if you plan to use Google) and if they are still alive.
How good are private proxies, when should one use private proxies?
I haven't used private proxies myself yet, but the success rate is a lot higher. In general you scrape (harvest links, comments, etc) using public proxies and post using private ones.
How many private proxies would I need if I was to use SEnukeX and
    Scrapebox?
It depends how intensely you plan to use both software, how many connections you plan to run with, and other variables. That said, I still wouldn't know since I've never used private proxies
I would appreciate the information and insight immensely! Thanks!
Feel free to give me my 100th thanks !

    So basically I need...

A harvester to harvest proxies, a checker to make sure proxies are legit and will work, and then buy some private proxies for posting on high ranked sites.

    Right?

Could you perhaps recommend a good proxy checker that does the Google test? Or have I misunderstood and since the proxies are posted on websites, they have already passed the Google test?

    Thanks!

Scrapebox can check proxies. Like the previous poster said, Charon is a good choice. I personally prefer Proxy Madness 4 (another free share here). However, PM4's checker isn't as good so I run it through a program called bleach to test if the proxies are anonymous. Finally I do the last proxy check through Scrapebox since that is what I'm using it for. Basically out of maybe 10,000 harvest proxies only 100-200 are anonymous and Google passed. Even then a good portion have already died through the time it took to test them.

    ScrapeBox can :
    1. Looking for fresh sources.
    2. Harvest proxies.
    3. Test proxies.

Also, ProxyFire is an amazing tool for filtering proxies and advanced steps (...).

the average s/box user needs the following. 10 private proxies to
post with, lost of public proxies to scrape with.
question - can you scrape with the same 10 private proxies your
posting with? yes but> heres why u shouldnt.

Just do a little test and take 100000 keywords, use private 3 proxies
and start harvesting. After a while SB will come to a grinding halt.
Google blocked your proxies...Eventually they will clear again but all this
time you can't continue with your project. So for massive harvesting
with large keyword lists you will need hundreds of proxies. Not funny
when 10 private proxies cost you about 25$ a month
so for scraping, this is why u need Hundreds of freshly scraped public
proxies every day to bombard Google with requests.

how can you get public proxies?
1 - you can harvest them yourself and test them in scrapebox.
2 - you can get some1 else to do it for you

What about proxy speed? What is a good speed for a public proxy? Which ones that pass G should I discard? Super slow ones?

    Thanks,

if your only scraping with them..honestly
it doesnt matter, the more the better
    remember public proxies are replaceable
and as your only scraping with them and
remember scrapebox does it for u
speed doesnt matter, unless of course u
wanna save 1 minute a day
