Hi everybody,

I will be launching a BST thread for my software Proxy Multiply in the near future and I want to ensure that the program is as bug-free as possible before launching. Proxy Multiply is a proxy scraping and testing software.

I do have existing clients for this software already that have been with me since this program was primitive compared to its present stage but I am not positive if they would e-mail me with bugs or if they are even experiencing any.

I am willing to offer a free copy of Proxy Multiply ($59.95 value) to both a Windows XP user and Windows Vista user that install the application, use it, and report any bugs. 32-bit and 64-bit versions of operating systems do not matter. I would like a brief summary of exactly what you did to test it and if you encountered any bugs.

You must test: installation, the 'get proxies' button, proxy testing, and automation (see configuration window).

My software is one of a kind and you can read about why on the features page of the website.

I will be conducting this contest on a first come, first serve basis - but you must produce a quality report! If you install it and claim to be done within a few minutes of downloading while somebody else after you did the same but has an extensive list of his/her testing conducted and results, I think you can imagine who I will be giving the free copy to

Dual core desktop
Installation = perfect
1st try to run application: exception startup error
2nd try to run application: stuck in authorizing
3rd try torun program: smoothly worked
Get proxy: Perfect and fast
Test proxies: works great
suggestion: I think should highlight Stop button because it seems like its unavailable!

Configuration:
General:
View Url after fetching: worked good
Automatic deletion of dead proxies: worked good did not see failed proxies when testing!
Other:

Set the selected proxy to internet explorer: worked fine. Checked proxy and it was the same as selected!

Add a feature to remove/delete duplicate, government, military and planet lab IPs.

Stop button did a mess first up but since then worked good. i several times started fetching new proxies and stopped and again deleted all and did the same but no problem. Stop button was highlighted.
Did it again now and started harvesting new proxies and suddenly STOP came alive so no problems with that any more.
2.5Ghz ram and 3.6Ghz dual core Cpu! worked great!

I found few bugs. I will write about them here after testing your tool a little bit longer, but the most important bug I found so far is that I'm not able to clean up proxy list to save only good ones using your "Delete Proxies" button.

After searching for proxies and testing all of them I tried several times to delete "bad/dead/untested" proxies from the list. Every time I try all proxies are deleted from the list.

Using your software on 32bit Windows XP.

Hi, changed the seting of SOCK proxy settings.
Checked: text proxies for sock4 and sock5 and countries
after checking that the testing proxies gave an error!
when i re-changed the settings to default(all un-checked) it again worked properly!

I have found out that the problem lies in the option Check countries of SOCK proxies!
When i check this and test proxies, program gives exception error and is terminated!

This is a really useful app, I downloaded the trial awhile back and was very happy with it. I don`t want a free copy, I`m buying it anyway, it`s great.

Is anybody able to provide more information on errors or exceptions that they received? If I had a screenshot or exact text of what the error message said, it would be of much better assistance

Doh! Fixed but update not released yet (will try to pack all these bugs into one). Did you have HTTP anonymity checking disabled by chance?

Just checking Automation configuration. It starts testing proxies after every 15 minutes as i told it. works fine.
Checked option: Update a text file with proxy list after every automation cycle!
1.It did not created a new file itself
2. I created the same file in same directory as was specified there but did not update the file after every cycle also never received mail(given i my email).
I think it is because when it starts "re-testing" proxies (after testing all proxies) it never finishes! I waited for it long to let it change its status as finish but it kept on showing the same status as testing.
Is it happening only to me?

Hmm... Yes, if it never finishes re testing the proxies, it will never reach the 'end' stage of updating the file and sending the e-mail. I have not received any other reports of the testing not finishing; can you send me a screenshot of the program as it is just waiting to finish testing? Thanks!

I have a suspicion that your GeoIP database is corrupted somehow. I am glad I have somebody with such a problematic PC like you testing for me I will implement some checks for this.

I updated the software and this problem is no more!
Email received and also got proxies saved in specified file!

Unfortunately I couldn't access bhw for some reason during your contest time :/

Anyway here are bugs I have found but didn't have a chance to post them here before:

* Stop button doesn't work when it needs to. Proxies from unfinished tasks are still adding to the list. (Really annoying when you want to stop search with certain amount of proxies).
* Sorting proxies from speed,country doesn't work automatically until you make changes to the size of the bar or move on the proxies list.
* After getting some proxies or loading them from a file click on "Import" button and use "x" to close "Import Proxies" window. Now all proxies from your list will disappear although you changed your mind and didn't want to import any proxies.
* Limit proxy list option doesn't work. If you put around 3000 proxies limit it always goes above it and when you set your limit to a couple of hundreds it always shows minimum of 2996 proxies.
* "View URLs used for proxy fetching" and "Limit proxy list" options are not working together. When you turn them on after searching some proxies you will always get "Maximum size exceeded" window error and fetched URLs will not show up.

Should i still get the review copy so i will check the software and bugs.

Thanks a lot for your input, Nitros! Yeah, BHW has been a hit or miss deal lately... The 'stop' button bug should be fixed in the update posted yesterday; the other bugs are minor annoyances that will be fixed next version.

When we have a list of proxies, i do "test all proxy" and done, we have result. But when we ordered the list we have sort it by : 1. higher speed (ex: 1400 ms) 2. good speed ( ex:125 ms) 3. all the rest ( bad, dead, untested);
it would be perfect if we could have this order: 1. good speed 2. higher speed 3.the rest,

I tried it on a server and for some reason, I can't get it to work properly.

In the automation feature, I have put my email ID, but I never receive any email with the list.

And something like a bug I found, not sure whether someone already found it.
I started the tool and its scraping the proxies from the internal sources and the further recursive method(which is an absolute delight!!), and I stopped it after it found around 19K proxies. Now I started checking them. The "Working Proxies" counter started increasing. I could see both live and dead proxies in the list(green and red), means all were not working(quite normal). Everything went fine till now. When the checking completed, the "Working proxies" counter suddenly jumped and now it showed the exact number of proxies as in the actual list that the tool scraped, which was around 19K, like I said. At first I thought may be I did something wrong, so I repeated the whole process(this time I scraped less proxies though) but the result was the same, it showed same number of proxies in both Total proxies and Working proxies.

But again, when I exported the working proxies, the list I got was not the complete scraped list. So to me it seems like the problem is only in the counter, while the export feature works fine.

By the way, I was using the Trial version available on your site.

OS: Windows Server 2008 RC2 (64bit)

I used with 300 threads on my winxp sp3 laptop (celeron) and I was still able to browse stuff... great.

Hey back, i will try with another words,
when i m running the scrap of proxies and test proxies in same time, and i click on "speed (ms)", it give proxies in this way:
1. working proxies but bad speed
2. working proxies and good speed
3. bad, dead ans untested,
it must be better to have proxies with good speed in first, is it ok?
