depends, there are several levels of anonymity (what is passed by the proxy to the to server side)

you need to use proxies with the highest level of anonymity

    Hi,

If you want to be completely anonymous, the proxy MUST check as a "high anonymous elite" proxy (aka Level 1).

What is the different between the different 'levels' of proxies, you ask?

A transparent proxy will show your real IP and the IP of the proxy.
An anonymous proxy uses a special HTTP field called 'VIA' that reveals that you are using a proxy (but doesn't show your IP).
A high anonymous proxy completely hides your IP, only showing that of the proxy, and does not give off a 'VIA' flag.

I have heard that Proxy Multiply is good for finding proxies (bias alert)

If you use one of these high anonymous elite proxies, does that mean that it shows as anonymous, as in it doesnt show an IP at all? Or does that just mean that the IP it shows will look as if its the computers IP, not a proxy?

    Hi,

It shows the IP of the proxy. It is impossible to not show an IP at all. You need to also clear your cookies if you are trying to maintain anonymous amongst different user IDs on the same website (e.g. if you have multiple accounts or are doing something else you shouldn't be from the same PC).

Why do people actually purchase proxies then if they can just use a program and find them?
