I don't agree!
I'm a n00b and I think that nobody born with knowledge! We have to read to became a guru on this subject, I know that are some people that arrive and say: "How can I earn money???" but there are other people that read a lot of posts to have some knowledge ... Its my opinion!

Sorry for any error, but English isn't my native language

I've kind of wondered why a post count rating is used in the first place. They never lead to anything more than dumbed-down postings by people trying to boost their numbers.

If the forum were trying to promote lots of page views then that's the way to go, but for actually weeding out the crud I've always thought that using "Thanks" counts, or some sort of nominations system where Mods and VIP's could submit members they feel are of value for elevated status... or some combination of the 2 was the better way to go.

Just using myself as an example, I have no clue what the post count levels even are here to be honest, because I don't have the time to post lots of crap and blagh blagh garbage on any forum. I use most of my time for business. If I have something to share, or can add to a discussion I'll chime in, but otherwise I keep my junk thoughts to myself.

Still, I think most of the posts I have made here--most of which were probably about squeezing more out of article marketing and rss feeds in some way--were quality and of value to others.

So, someone like me (or even with better stuff than me to offer) doesn't even look at what post counts mean because lets say I need 150 to reach some next level as a user, that'll take me a year or more because I don't waste time posting dribble and rarely engage in non-business discussions like this one.

But at the same time some idiot can drive up a post count in weeks or even days for higher levels of access... to me that kind of system doesn't lead to higher quality just more noise.

At the same time locking too much away from noobs or low level users is equally bad for a forum because it provides less incentive for those with something of value to offer from bothering to participate in the first place.

Yep, the admin here has a tough job

I truly wish there was a more referral based program, where people are invited based on their post quality rather than quantity.

Possibly even an application process where they link thier most useful posts in a thread and then we judge them and vote accordingly. (you could have a JR VIP application forum, then a rules post that clearly states what is required, etc.)

sure it would be more tedious for the mods/admins, but it could make JR Vip more similar to Ex vip in the fashion that it requires a vote.

I think the way to enter Jr vip is wrong.

I donated $97 to get access, and didn't read about the 100 posts.

I found 100 posts really bad.

1) Maybe more people would like to donate to acess JRVIP, this way, less money.

2) Forum can get a lot of crap messages, to raise up people msg count.

As I said, I have $97 less in my pocket (I was a donor before), and have no access to JR VIP. Something is wrong here.

Best.

desperado, do you have a lot of problems buying things and wanting refund?

yuppy, Jr VIP can't too restrictive, but, it has to be retricive enough that people can not join and just be leeches for a mere $97.00.

well i thought that was an easy restriction, just have everyone make like 100ish posts then 'apply' and have a vote 50% vote for yes is good enough, sure we might have ppl who always vote no... but the candidates will link what they think are their best posts and that could give every voter a feel for the nominee. i dont think it would be too restrictive, if the voting was voerwhelmingly negative, have em make another 100 posts and try again.
