How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
Hi there people, finally its time for me to leap into paid advertising utilizing the passive income from videos and articles.
Can someone please shed some light on the best methods for tracking ROI on each and every keyword from withing PPC campaigns.
To date my income is generated using articles & to generate traffic to presale/review sites that sell clickbank products. I have been having a decent level of success with this so i think its time to jump into PPC campaigns & CPA.
What are the most ideal methods everyone can think of for keeping and eye on your ROI @ Keyword level. I currently use TIDS in clickbank but this doesnt seem to enable me to track sales down to the keyword.... unless ofcoarse i made a unique TID for each and every keyword, which naturally will end up being a task and a half.
Also another question, are tracking methods different depending on SE your using... ?
Your Help is much appreciated.....

Re: How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
Using Google Analytics, you can tag your links to track things like keyword, source, etc. This works with PPC, Mailing, Paid Links, Banner Ads, etc.
http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55578
That tool will show you how to properly tag your links. Different engines have different shortcuts for the keyword, so you'll have to do a little more digging.

Re: How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
google analytics, xtreme conversions, those type of things, i personal don't use any keyword tracking software or solution, and i have thousands of campaigns, i do just make a report, through google editor(good download and free) and just track it through excel which they all do in the end.

Re: How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
I just started using ppc myself and I am using Xtr*eme Conv*ersons for tracking.
This tracking software woks very well and you can download it from this forum.
One added benefit of XC is that you can see the search term typed into the search engine before arriving at your landing page.

Re: How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
get used to XC cause you can not only track at keyword level, but when it forwards the link the url has been appended to it so anyone 'spying' only sees that number but only you know what keyword it relates to.
Also it now tracks sales and optins so there is no need to manipulate the data to find out what is working
If you do really want to automate things, use it with speedPPC as well, integrates well.
os....

Re: How To Monitor ROI On Each & Every keyword
Actually just using good old excel isn't that hard. The problem is the number of characters allowed in the tracking ID with the network, and the number of tracking IDs they allow. But taking CB for example you can have up to x characters in your tracking number TID.
Without getting into algebra, that gives you hundreds of thousands of possible keywords if you work it right. The trick is in assigning a unique code to a keyword.
Piece of cake.
Worksheet 1 col A: list of keywords. I do broad, empty row, exact, empty row, phrase if I'm using it at all.
col b tracking code. I like to use a basic cypher. Something like this (and you can use this one exactly if you want; without the spreadsheet with the keyword list, it's just gibberish no matter what they do): possible 6 digit code.
First letter represents search engine. So for example, A = google. The other 5 digits give me 1-99,999 words in my list. So col b would be a1, a2, a3 etc. each row therefore has a keyword and an ID unique to that keyword and traffic source.
With a little creative use of pivot tables, you can download your stats from your network, cross reference the keywords responsible for sales, then backtrack to your adwords/adcenter etc interface and check your results.
why do it this way instead of google analytics or some other 3rd party system?
1) I don't want google or anybody else to have my conversion data. Fuck them. It's none of their business how my business runs.
2) I don't want the networks having my keywords. Fuck them too. It's none of their business either.
Don't forget to mask/redirect so your referrer strings from the search engines aren't passed to the networks.
Hope that helps.

KE*YWORD*VIS*ION is a good program for auto generating trackable ClickBank TID's.
