Hi all

Am a newbie here so apologies if this is the wrong category!

Want to know if people here have made good returns doing banner advertising as opposed to SEO?

I have a site thats taking ages to rank after being hit by Penguin/Panda (or both!). I did some SEO but it's not making much difference yet (in terms of making money). So, I'm looking for this holy 'grail' of banner networks - where I can hopefully spend small amounts on CPC (or even CPM) and get some targetted traffic in return.

I'm also looking for a network that can bring me UK traffic - as my site is for UK customers only.

Any suggestions? Or is this avenue not one worth chasing?

Thanks!

you have to try buysellads, I tried different site and spent few dollars on that site, no single conversions, you can always do your own test and see if there is any conversions.

It's basically fast short term results (banner ads) versus slow long term results (SEO). I recommend a healthy mix of both :). Paid ads won't always be right for you it really depend what your selling. I have had a really tough time recovering my websites from penguin it hurt me deep.

Have you tried Adwords?

Yes, AdWords will show you good results if your goods/services are not prohibited for advertising there. Also you can check buyads and buysellads. But as for me you will get much better result if you are on Google TOP10 for organic search

Thanks for all the responses so far. The only thing that worries me, is a really low update or CTR. For example, on certain campaigns, if I only get 0.30% CTR - the campaign would be running at a loss.

Presumably this is a trial and error process to get right? Otherwise, everyone would be millionaires!

Yeah, banner ads are tough. What you need to have to make them successful is good data. WhatRunsWhere is real awesome but real expensive.

Edit: Thought you were referring to adwords. Ignore.

I've been very successful with media buys and banner advertisement. With daily spends over $2,000 in some campaigns.

Someone said "good data" this is key, testing 20 angles, testing conversions, dropping bad angles and keeping the good ones. I've taken banners that had a .02 CTR and using my data turned it into a .6% converting banner.

It's all about that extra elbow grease.

BuySellAds is eh. Problem is, elsewhere you are looking $500-$1,000 deposits to get started.

Thats some spend! Am assuming you made a profit on that spend too?

Don't understand why you're not sold on BuySellAds - are there better options? I can't PM yet, so please msg me if you can't elaborate on here!
