I have been looking for clients and while searching I am coming across different size packs.

What is the reason for this? Fewer people doing GP placement?

I was surprised to see a 4 pack for "city attorneys" where I was searching.

Assume you are talking about Google Places?

I've not found a reason for it yet but it seems to happen when you search for slight variations or plurals.

FYI...google has recently just implemented some changes that are causing some pretty major effects in how they display local places results in the organic results.

For the most part they have done away with the 7-pack and are now showing blended places results for the majority of local keyword searches...also they seemed to have reduced the number of local results shown in the organic SERPs from 7 down to 3-5.

Not sure if this will be permanent but i have run ranking reports on 1000's of keywords and most are showing blended where before many were 7-packs...will probably sit a few days on it to let the dust settle before i make any definitive conclusions but changes are definitely in the works.

Let me know if you guys are seeing the same thing.
