May have been mentioned before, but just something thats been niggling me at the back of my mind. I'm only new in marketing, but thought some of you experienced guys will have an answer. Say you have done the SEO and whatever else for the website. How does that business know that they are getting busier because of what you did, or that its just a fluctuation in business or something else not attributable to you? One thing is to put an email address attached to the website, so that gives an indication through that medium, but for phone calls or walk-in customers what do you do then?

I'm curious about this as well but what I've seen some people do is have a form for new clients and in there have a checkmark for search engines plus a field for the keyword.

It's basically an offline adaption of what you see on some of the online signup forms for certain companies.

I use google analytics and rank tracker. Both of these tools should provide you with more than enough info to prove that the extra business is coming from SEO. You should send your clients monthly reports to show the progress that you have made.

Well, I guess I'm lucky as in my country you can set up free phone numbers that you can channel through another phone number (in this case the clients'), it tracks the calls that it sends through so this is very easy to show them how many clients you're getting for them. Also, I use a contact form on the website that also sends a copy to my own e-mail whenever it's submitted.

So I know exactly how many leads they're getting from me

And I use Rank Tracker and GA ofcourse..

I'm using Rank Tracker, works pretty good for me. Gotta try GA thou...

I was wondering if this free phone no tool can be used in other countries as well.
