Website for a theater in Town -- Help needed
Hey guys,
A new theater was opened recently in my town and i am looking to monetize it by getting them a website(they dont have one.Yet) with ticket booking, support,FB page etc...
Now my main concern is how much will it cost to get a website coded or is there any available script made for theaters?

Re: Website for a theater in Town -- Help needed
If the tickets are bought for exact seats (row and seat number) you might want to take a look at Markus Cinema System. I have no idea about the cost but you can get a quote by mailing them
I realize this might not be what you are looking for but it might help somehow..
There is no place like 127.0.0.1

I know your just in the planning stage of this but you may want to also consider promotion as well.
Have the site offer up some feebees to get the traffic to the theatre.
2 for one tickets
Coupons for free Popcorn(cheap to make and over priced)
Half off soda with Popcorn purchase ( doesn't Popcorn make everyone thirsty?)
Just some ideas off the top of my head.
Another thing to consider. If your really in good with the management ask them to allow you the vending contract. You know the cranes and other machines in the lobby? I had a vending company before I sold and theatres were some of our best locations.

Thanks for the suggestion guys,i went to the theater and inquired about this.
Looks like they don't even have a computer! But online ticket booking requires one (for the database..etc),so they said they will calculate the costs and call me back.
Very good suggestion nookie monster.
if it works out well,i will get contact number from everyone who registers and randomly pick 5 of them and give free popcorn and coke

Something like ten percent off when you buy tickets online.
Or print out our promo code from our site present it to a ticket booth, get a free popcorn.
Keep track of how many people use the promo code, or in order to get the code they need to like their FB page.
Then you can show the cinema you are increasing traffic/sales and profits through IM.

1) Have they already paid you to make them a website? I wouldn't go about making one until you know they will pay you, especially if you need to pay someone to code it for you.
2) When you said "looking to monetize it" it sounded more like you are just trying get money off people searching it without selling the site or services to theater itself. If that's the case, refer back to 1. Sell them on the idea of having them pay you to make a website for them. Depending on the type of theater and ownership, they pay a very good amount for websites in my experience.

We provide IT support for a cinema over here in the UK...
The ticket system those guys use is a very expensive one, but it can be done much cheaper.
I'd use Joomla with a component like Ticketmaster (19 euros)
If you go to the 'Events Registration' section of the Joomla extensions directory - you'll get a good idea of what's possible on a tight budget.

If you're in the US, just hook them up to fandango and other eticketing services that already exist. way easier then building something from scratch.

Don't forget the: "Please fill a little survey in order to get your Free Popcorn and Coke" part.
J/K.
...But I know someone is bound to attempt this...

I didn't start making the website.
I am just preparing myself. If they accept the offer,i can get it done easily.
My idea was to get a site up for them and manage it.
