fundamental offline marketing question
For all you guys enjoying some form of success in securing contracts can I ask how you sell your service ?
Do you tell the customer it will cost them x amount of money for you to get them onto the first page of Google ? If so then how do you square that with the fact that it's impossible to guarantee results with SEO ?
Do you instead tell them the benefits of appearing on page one of Google and that you will HELP them to get there. If you do down this route do you explicitly tell them you can't guarantee a first page listing or do you infer it by what you don't say ?

Re: fundamental offline marketing question
Mostly the SEO experts keep it as a"read between the lines" sort of thing when luring the clients to their service. But it is a fact that none can guarantee 1st page for sure.

Thanks buddy. I wouldn't feel comfortable making promises I couldn't keep.
If the customer asks you directly if page one would be guaranteed then I guess you'd had to 'fess up !

one way is to conduct the research for the prospect keywords.
a clear awareness of this range provides several ways to frame the
sales conversation appropriately. What you are selling is business
increase or relevant traffic, more effective if you are not comfortable
with promising a page 1 ranking.
