Automated VOIP telemarketing
Hey guys,
What is your opinion on automated VOIP marketing? It seems like a cheap way to spread one's message across.

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
You'll want to watch the legalities on that one... I know in some States in the USA it is illegal without certain protections for the receiver of the call.
Details on that are fuzzy as it has been several years since I played that game but I am sure a lawyer can keep you safe from any issues.

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
If it is VOIP anon calls from some sales center in India, how are legalities come into play? What am I missing

My understanding is that the issue comes into play with not only the caller(s) but those that benefit from those calls. The entity that the calls are made on behalf of are as guilty as those making the calls.
Like I said though it has been about 4 - 5 years since I played that game so I am probably not expressing the complete details as to the downfalls.

BassTrackerBoats is right. You're better to talk with a lawyer before starting it. It's also my suggestion.

Right, I see what you're saying.
Would depend entirely on what you're doing, I would imagine many advertisers would frown on just cold calls. But if you had some list of people in financial distress, for example you could call them with some payday loan type offer. I could see that having a reasonable success rate.

It's not advertisers that would have the issue it is the government. I was in the financial services industry when I employed others to do that actually and those that I represented had no clue nor did they care how I generated leads/deals.
The various States in the USA had some issues though and they are the ones you have to make sure you don't tick off... it pays to stay inside the lines when dealing with their laws.

I didn't have an AM as this was not affiliate marketing I was doing but complaints from people to the Govt will raise an alarm.

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
automated voip calling? Does this mean robo calls/ voice broadcasting? or call center in India that has a dialer that uses VOIP? not really clear.
If VB; its legal B2B but illegal B2C. There are absolutely no laws in place that makes it illegal to VB to businesses. It is highly illegal to do it to consumers(residents).

Make sure you get a Do-Not-Call list. It's the same thing as a spam-trap list for emails, but with a DNC list, if you call someone and their on it, there's a lot higher chance you will get bit in the ass for it.

-
Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
There is no issue if you have lists that are scrubbed with the DNC and that people on this list have asked for info on a certain topic

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
We provide wholesale voip services for this. You are required to adhere to do not call regulations though. If your in compliance or your legal advises your traffic is exempt, check us out. Altus Carrier Services Company.

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
You can not do it to consumers, period. DNC scrubbed or not, it doesnt matter. The law states that you can not robo call a consumer, even if you have an established relationship. B2B there are no laws. We send out a ton. The only issue I am having is timing, getting the recording to start upon ans mach pick up and/or hello....pain in the ass. Getting cheap voip, is a must too. Look at grey lines, not white. The billing is another world, very confusing. However I found a couple flat fees far less than a penny, billed 6/6.

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
A little trick that I found that works well is make the recording sound like you just missed them. Like: Oh hi there...Sorry I missed you. I got your name from Dave, he said that I should give you a call to go over the marketing plan we have done for him thats generating about 9 new clients per week for him. When you have a sec, give me a hollar back. 000-000-0000 or better yet, just send me an email to mmm@mmm.com.
I blast on Sundays and hit mostly ans machines, and early am....I get a ton of calls monday am....

Re: Automated VOIP telemarketing
Edit: OK, I found a potential company doing calls for cheap in my area....
(Company name is voip.ms)
Question: Can the provider itself get in trouble for allowing VB?
