Default Which keyword should I pick?

    Hello,

I've decided to try out the rent-a-site model which entails I buy an exact match keyword domain, install wordpress, do some onsite (which I can do myself) and offsite (which I can outsource to fiverr) SEO and rent it out to a local business. The ideal pricing for me would be a recurring fee of $1,000 USD a month. With this in mind I'd have to target a niche where businesses are really making money. So I decided to try home renovation/general contracting.

    Which Keyword?
"<city> + general contractor", according to google's keyword tool has a search volume of 91 and half the first page of the SERP contain google places listings.

"home renovation + <city>" has a monthly search volume of 58 and there are no google places listings at all on the first page. I guess that means it would be easier to rank for this keyword?

    Questions
Which keyword should I go for?

Are 'general contractors' and people who do 'home renovations' the same thing? I ask this because I see many businesses overlap each other in the SERP for both keywords.

Is charging $1000/mo. unreasonable? I'm assuming it's not particularly for this niche.

I asked something similar blackhatworld(dot)com blackhat-seo offline-marketing 375244-whats-best-way-montize(dot)html but got no reply. You have the same plans as me (except I will go for medical specialists) so if you want to share some ideas/strategies, give me a PM

I think 1000$ per month is way too high for a website. I would aim for the $400-$500 per month range. You could always offer say:
    1 month: 500$
    3 months: 1350$
    6 months: 2550$
    1 year: 4800$

    Or something like that

How are you planning to sell your product? Send a sales letter to all contractors in that city? Because if 10 of them contact you that they're interested, you'll have to reject 9 of them. It's one of the things I'm still wondering about....

I think the amount you charge for leasing the site is dependent on the niche. Some dentists, for example, make 6 figures a year. So a $1000 is nothing to them. Companies that do home renovations make alot of money also.

Once the site is created I will get it to #1 for its keyword. I was going to buy fiverr gigs but I'm not sure. I plan on contacting prospects via email since I'm antisocial and won't feel comfortable meeting them face to face.

I think getting the price right (not too high and not too low) is the hardest part. If your price is too high you won't get any response from them and sending another letter with "lower price this time" isn't that professional. The only way they will pay 1000$ is when they get at least 1 appointment each day coming in from the website. I'm still thinking about how to implement that. I'm also quite antisocial so I will be sending letters (letters are less easy to immediatly throw in the trashbin)

Ideally you're not supposed to mention your price at all until they show interest. You're supposed to explain your services and how it will benefit their business.

I wouldn't be too nervous about the pricing as long as its proportional to what they're earning. If you're able to maintain the site's #1 position for a particular keyword then they should be getting new customers.

Honestly, I don't know how much a dentist earns here (western Europe), I guess I can ask next time when I visit the dentist what his profit margin is, but I doubt if he will say it

edit: apparantly a dentist "only" earns 4k net each month. So if i'd ask 1000$ that would be 1/4th of his salaray... I really don't think that'll work...

Well you said you live in West Europe so do you mean 4k Euros or which currency?

Also, if you're going to be emailing prospect why bother contacting the ones that live in your country? Just go after small cities in rich countries.

i think you should go for the home renovation because it looks easier to rank and then rank the other one too. i was thinking on doing the samething rank for keywords like that but i dont know what to put on the sites to rank them. Just articles and stuff related to the keyword? Or what else? Because all of the other sites are just promoting their bussiness but since i dont have a bussiness then what should i put?
