I read somewhere recently about selling Animoto videos to parents of kids who attend a daycare. It might have been a WSO but am not sure.

The videos created by Animoto are pretty good and if one gets a commercial license, you can make high resolution videos and also burn it to a DVD.

The way to get in the door with them is to make a free video for them (they can use it on their google maps listing or on their website or for any other marketing needs). You can then ask them to promote this service to the parents.

Do you think this idea would work? What are some drawbacks that you see with the venture? What about a price point to sell a custom made video to the parents (downloadable link, on a DVD, etc)?

I am trying to think of reasons why parents would purchase this. Sure the video looks great and I guess they could use it for ex. DVD of Vacation to Disney World, Christmas 2009, Birthday, etc.

Let's see if we can come up with some viable solutions to make this idea work.

What kind of content would you want in these videos?

I'm not seeing the allure for parents to purchase a video of their kids unless there was some big whiz-bang feature going for it.

It would just be a collection of their family pictures or pictures of just the kids. I could not think of a viable reason why parents would buy videos other than to have it or maybe send it to the kids' grandparents. Might have to ditch this idea unless I can make it viable.
