Re: Wordpress based membership website
I am a fanof amember. I have used it for several sites and have found it to be scalable and not have many issues with the way that it works.

Re: Wordpress based membership website
Wishlist is a good alternative to amember, but amember is the clear "authority." Amember is used by pretty big companies, I think SENuke and SickSubmitter are both ran through amember, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Wordpress based membership website
I am starting a subscription membership site as well using wordpress. I am new to wordpress. What plugins do I all need to have the whole process process run automatically. Meaning a user subscribes, creates there own username and password, automatically get a email notification of signing up, the credit card is setup for automatic recurring monthly charges and they have access to the member content and forums?
Could anyone list the best plugins needed to have the registration process run seamless. Also, could you give website examples to look at? Is paypal the best option for recurring bill payment?
Thanks in advance!

These are almost identical questions that I have regarding a subscription site. Bump

Re: Wordpress based membership website
i have used wp-members and s2Member (both free) are are both very good, but not sure if they have all the capabilities you require. s2member is probably the more powerful of the two, but a little more time consuming to set up.
I have also used cms members (paid) - stay clear of this.
I have heard good things about wishlist but never used.

Re: Wordpress based membership website
I like S2member. It looks confusing at first but its straightforward. The tutorial videos are really well done.
the best thing is to open the youtube channel in one tab and your WP admin in another and start with the first video.

Re: Wordpress based membership website
I'm starting to use s2Member and I think it's great. The 'drip content' feature is still kind of a hack (gotta add a bit of php to each page you want to 'drip'), but they say they're working on a new release soon that makes this easier.
It's free, so install it on a test site and play around with it a bit. The pro version basically just gives you access to more payment gateways.
