    Question What are you selling at your membership site?

    It seems like there are a lot of dating/social membership sites or pr0n.

    What other types of monthly membership sites are people running?

    no one ever wants competition...finding a niche no other membership site exists for is the best THING YOU CAN DO...no ones going to share

    think of it like this though....if people want it/want to know more about it/like it/doing it as a hobby....there SHOULD be a membership site for it...if there isn't.....then you just found yourself a PERFECT market.

    Oh, you won't believe the kind of things people are running membership sites for (in a good way, I mean). Sometimes in weird and obscure niches.

    It all comes down to your marketing in the end. You can make money in absolutely any niche, if you know how to become an authority in your niche, build a following, and reach your target market.

    Here are some niches...

    * Holistic / Spiritual
    * Empowerment / Self-Help
    * Weight loss, Health & Fitness, Yoga, Bodybuilding, Kettle bells, etc
    * Make money online
    * Specific IM niches - like Facebook marketing, Adwords advertising etc
    * Physical & Mental Endurance
    * Success tips
    * Herbs and Homeopathy and non-traditional medicines
    * Hypnosis and mastering the mind
    * Sports and techniques: Golf, Tennis, etc
    ... and on and on :-)

    Hope this helps.

    How do I know this? I'm the founder of DigitalAccessPass (DAP), a membership plugin for WordPress, and these are just some of the niches that our users are running membership sites in.

    Pop corn! It goes viral quickly and spreads everywhere

    Seriously speaking, I sell a service for getting links crawled / indexed quickly. But knowing what works for others doesn't mean it will work for you. Simply because you may do it wrong while they make it right so find what works for you.

    There is no special type of projects named profitable project. Any project can be profitable project with the right hands.

    On one of my sites is a membership site (sports instructional site), where we have over 9 hrs of online videos, plus DVDs.

    I offer a free DVD when people sign up ($17/mo), and the offer rotates every couple of months to a different DVD. I used a Kunaki/PayPal script and aMember for the CMS and run it through PayPal. I don't even have to lift a finger for the orders to get fulfilled, which is nice. I've got like a 6 month stick rate at that site, so every subscriber is worth $98.52 (minus the $5.30 it costs for Kunaki to manufacture and ship the DVD - even overseas!). So $93.22 for every signup. I have people who have been members for over 2 yrs, so if you have killer content and offer a ton of value, you can kill it in any niche.

    I'm thinking of taking this model and moving some of my other sites to it, but you've really gotta love the niche or it'll just be one big pain in your ass to keep it up. But seriously, it only takes me 5 minutes a day to check orders and maybe answer a question or two.

    I just started running some banner ads to pump of traffic to a squeeze page for that site, and it's growing nicely.

    The free-DVD-lead-generator-thingy kills it though, I love it and it's hands off.

    Hope that helps!

    I do a coaching/IM site but it is way off the grid. I got a good rep on d.o.m.i.n.a.t.e.I.M. and made a lot of money so I put that to good use and pimp my skills to paying members. Mostly newbies who don't know much and, to be honest, don't do much. It pays the bills.
