I want to setup a membership site for a local music festival

There is a landing page with a few other pages with some basic information.

But, I want to add a membership area to so I can add:

• Earlybird ticket sales
• Song requests
• Sales representative area (private area for selected members)
• Admin/Mod area
• Exclusive downloads

and so on....

This is for a local event I don't expect it to go huge but need some sort of free membership site script or tutorials

I would like to work with HTML instead of Wordpress because I've never used Wordpress and don't know much about it.

It's a pity you don't want to work with WP. It really is quite simple, and with some plugins that have been shared on here( Super duper membershipper/WPeMember ) you could have it up and running in a few hours.

WP itself has it's own admin area, eMember can protect a downloads true location so it can't be shared with non members. For earlybird tickets you could show the paypal buy now buttons to members only, likewise for a song requests page. You can easily have different levels of memberships: free, paid and sales rep. Each level can only access what you want them to.

This is almost turning into an awful sales text but it would be a lot of blood, sweat and tears to do all this yourself from scratch. All it would take with WP is to upload the plugins, theme, create your pages and paypal buttons(subscription or pay once) and you have a snazzy membership site. The functionality still has to be implemented on song request/sales rep pages but it's a ton less work than starting from nothing. If you really don't want to touch WP then you could always go with aMember.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a totally biased WP fanboy.

How experienced are you with HTML? Even if you're fairly experienced, you're going to have a ton of headaches with it compared to just 'learning' Wordpress. I say 'learning' because there's nothing to really properly learn. It's all so easy.

Seriously, go with Wordpress.
