I am trying to build a dating site but am really confused either to go with a

1. regular Joomla 1.6 template or
2. with "JA T3 Blank Template for Joomla 1.6" available at JoomlaArt for Joomla1.6
3. Gantry based templates from RocketTheme for Joomla1.6

I am using Joomla 1.6. Any advice is greatly helpful.

I've tried dozens upon dozens of themes for Joomla and all had issues I didn't like. Some had small issues and some had large issues, but there was always something that didn't work right for me. Then I tried the Gantry framework from RocketTheme and couldn't be more pleased. The enormous quantity of module locations and customizations options wins hands-down in my opinion. I started using the Quasar theme and haven't looked back. If you have previous experience with Joomla themes, I think you'll be particularly pleased.

can you pl. clarify if quasar template can be used with joomla 1.6. i was looking at quasar and it seems to be for joomla1.5 only.

Hmmm...I'm not sure if it can be used for 1.6. I should have specified in my first post that I'm using 1.5, so I apologize. Are you locked in to Joomla 1.6? If not, and depending on what you're using it for, you might want to consider 1.5 instead. About 4-6 weeks ago, I went through a lengthy process to evaluate 1.6 and decided to stay with 1.5 for the time-being because so many of the useful extension I use are not available in 1.6 yet. I know RocketTheme was working to convert their templates to 1.6, but stated the club templates would be converted first. If Quasar does not work in 1.6, it could be awhile since it's free.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions and I'll do my best. I've been using Joomla for about 1 1/2 years now, so I'm starting to get comfortable with it. :-)
