Need help configuring Amember
I'm kind of new to scripting, and its telling me this:
# Directory '/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/data/' is not writeable. Please fix it
# Directory '/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/data/new_rewrite/' is not writeable. Please fix it
# Directory '/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/templates_c' is not writeable. Please fix it
Anyone understand this? Thanks,

Re: Need help configuring Amember
It means you need to change the file permissions on those three files and/or directories. If you are using FTP, you should have a command called "CHMOD" which will allow you to change the permissions. You need to make them all "777" (or check the boxes allowing group and owner write permission, if that's how your FTP client works) and you should be all set. If you are using a control panel, you'll need to find the permissions/CHMOD instructions for your specific control panel.

Do I put CHMOD in as a custom command? If i do that my ftp says this:
501 Missing argument
Thanks,

Re: Need help configuring Amember
No - I don't know what FTP client you're using, but in most of them, you just highlight and then right-click on the file or folder you want to CHMOD. You will see the selection in the menu that pops up. It might say "CHMOD" or "file permissions" or something like that.

Re: Need help configuring Amember
Are you using cpanel?
If so Cpanel has a filemanager that is point and click and web based. No need to complicate things, it works similarly to any windows app, right mouse click and you can change the permissions etc.
login to cpanel, go to "files" section - choose the "file manager" icon
click this to activate it, then navigate to the folders in question:-
/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/data/' is not writeable
/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/data/new_rewrite/' is not writeable
/home/a5732904/public_html/amember/templates_c' is not writeable
then right mouse click each in turn one after another and choose "changing the permissions" to 777 - ignore the ticks.... you see what I mean. confirm each change with the "change permissions" button!
Be sure to change them back to 755 when you have finished the installation or you could open yourself to abuse.
Give it a go, don't be shy... if you mess it up, just delete it all and do it again from scratch!
If you are not using cpanel, pm, answer the thread or mail me and we'll think of something else for you.
Greetings,
Dave

Re: Need help configuring Amember
I posted this on another thread, but thought Dave might give me an answer, or someone else who knows.
I am using godaddy, and using amemer. I uploaded all the files and read through the manual from amember...when I go to www(dot)mysite(dot)com/amember/setup.php which is the first step, it asks me for a password, but I do not have a password yet.
I am stuck, any help would be greatly appreciated.
